Southwest battlefield of the Land of Fire.
"Renya-san, you really developed it?"
Nara Mikage looked shocked.
He had known that with Renya's abilities, he could definitely come up with an antidote. But he hadn't expected it to happen this quickly!
In less than a day, Renya had created an antidote that could neutralize most poisons—truly jaw-dropping.
Facing Nara Mikage's astonishment, Renya remained calm, as if it were no big deal.
"The poison used by Sunagakure isn't particularly potent. My newly developed antidote can neutralize the vast majority of poisons on the market."
Currently, the poisons used across the ninja world were very limited in variety…
In terms of pure toxicity, Renya's own creations could completely outclass the concoctions of any other poison master in the shinobi world.
With such powerful poison-making skills, his detoxification ability couldn't possibly fall behind.
Renya handed a storage scroll to Nara Mikage and explained:
"The antidotes are all inside. Distribute them to everyone when the time comes."
Nara Mikage dazedly took the scroll, still feeling like he was dreaming.
Had they really just developed a cure, just like that?
In the past, medical ninja often had to spend a great deal of time crafting antidotes specifically tailored to a certain toxin.
And now Renya, in just a single day, had developed an antidote capable of neutralizing the vast majority of poisons.
It was simply unbelievable.
After all, targeted detoxification and broad-spectrum detoxification were on entirely different levels of difficulty.
Targeted detoxification was like "prescribing the right medicine for the illness."
Once the components of the toxin were identified, a matching antidote could be used to counteract it.
For example, if someone was poisoned with arsenic, a herb that reacted with arsenic could be used to neutralize it.
It was a fast and effective approach.
But broad-spectrum detoxification was more like a "universal medicine."
A single antidote had to counter dozens—or even hundreds—of different poisons.
For example, to counteract snake venom, plant-based toxins, and heavy metal poisoning, the antidote had to both neutralize the toxin, absorb different chemical compounds, and adapt to various toxic mechanisms.
The difficulty of that was on another level entirely!
And yet Renya had managed to develop it in just one day.
A single word emerged in Nara Mikage's mind—
Monster!
Renya's talent in antidote development was beyond comprehension.
Sending such a genius to the southwest battlefield…
No wonder Hokage-sama had made such a strategic decision!
Renya had no idea what Nara Mikage was thinking. His own mind was fully occupied with thoughts of heading to the frontlines and killing enemies.
On the second day after arriving at the battlefield, he'd been inexplicably assigned to the medical corps by the commanding officer, becoming a medic.
He could live with that—except for one key issue: he didn't know any medical ninjutsu.
Once the antidote was finished, he had nothing left to do.
Danzo and Koharu had gone to the battlefield to fight, while he could only wander around the camp doing nothing.
It was incredibly frustrating…
So he spent a whole day developing a universal antidote.
That way, he wouldn't have to sit around in the rear anymore.
"Mikage-sama, now that the antidote's been developed, can I head to the battlefield?"
Nara Mikage's expression turned a bit complicated at those words.
Renya's value on the southwest battlefield was simply too great—he didn't want to let Renya risk his life out there.
The battlefield was unpredictable. Even the slightest misstep could cost someone their life.
Even if Renya was a jōnin, he still wasn't immune to death.
Sunagakure's two recent offensives had already cost Konoha some of its jōnin.
"Renya-san, I think you'd be better off in the rear—"
Before he could finish, Renya interrupted him.
"Mikage-sama, the antidote has already been created. Konoha no longer needs to fear Sunagakure's poison for a long time. I am fully capable of heading to the battlefield."
Seeing Renya's firm attitude, Nara Mikage was silent for a moment, then finally nodded.
"Renya-san, please be extremely careful on the battlefield."
Renya nodded, picked up [Immaculate], and turned to leave the camp.
Nara Mikage watched his departing figure, unable to hold back a sigh.
"Renya-san truly embodies the First Hokage-sama's Will of Fire..."
Knowing full well that the battlefield was far more dangerous than the rear, he still marched forward without hesitation.
This kind of selflessness for the sake of the village and his comrades earned his deepest respect.
No wonder Hokage-sama had personally raised him since childhood!
...
Although Sunagakure hadn't launched another attack yet, there were still many Konoha ninja stationed on the battlefield to guard against sudden assaults.
As long as the enemy made a move, Konoha would know and respond immediately.
"Renya-san, why are you here?"
The Konoha shinobi quickly surrounded Renya when they saw him.
They all knew the antidote came from him and treated him with deep respect.
Renya felt a bit uncomfortable being swarmed like this, instinctively putting some distance between himself and the others.
"I came to assess the battlefield situation."
The shinobi responded with cheerful smiles.
"Renya-san, it's all thanks to the antidote you made that we were able to repel Sunagakure's forces!"
"That's right! With the antidote in hand, their poison is no longer a threat. It's only a matter of time before we completely defeat them."
Renya smiled and nodded in response to their praise.
Once the conversation ended, the ninja returned to their posts.
On the southwest battlefield, only the wounded were sent back to the rear to recover.
All other ninja camped near the front lines, taking shifts to keep watch.
That was the only way to respond instantly to enemy attacks.
After all, war wasn't child's play. One careless mistake could cost you your life.
Everyone had to stay on high alert at all times.
Renya spotted Shimura Danzo and Koharu Utatane not far away.
Danzo had a bandage wrapped around his abdomen, with faint traces of blood seeping through.
"Renya, what are you doing here?" Danzo looked puzzled.
Wasn't this guy supposed to be in the rear making antidotes? What was he doing on the battlefield?
"I've finished the antidote…" Renya's eyes fell to Danzo's wound. "What happened to you?"
"Got ambushed by a rat," Danzo muttered, annoyed.
Seeing that he didn't want to elaborate, Renya didn't ask further.
"Renya-kun, are you going back to the camp?" Koharu asked curiously.
"I'm staying on the battlefield," Renya replied.
Danzo's face darkened.
Damn it. This bastard's back on the battlefield to steal my credit again!
Danzo had assumed Renya would stay in the rear. That way, he'd have more chances to rack up accomplishments and surpass him.
But it had only been a day, and Renya had already returned to the front lines.
"Danzo, are you alright?" Koharu looked worried.
She thought Danzo's condition had worsened.
Just as she prepared to use medical ninjutsu, Danzo waved her off.
"No need, Koharu. I'm fine!"
Renya gave Danzo a strange look.
There was definitely something off about this guy…
But he couldn't quite put his finger on it.
At that moment, a Konoha ninja shouted from a distance:
"Everyone, be on guard! Sunagakure is attacking!"
At those words, all the Konoha shinobi immediately entered combat readiness.
Shimura Danzo clutched his wound and forced himself to stand, drawing a kunai from his tool pouch, eyes sharply scanning the horizon.
Renya's lips twitched.
Wasn't this guy pushing himself a bit too hard?
If you're injured, just go back and rest in camp already!
