*Kael's POV*
The door of the RV crashed open under my palm, wood splintering beneath my rage. Cold air rushed in as I stepped inside, scanning the chaos before me.
Blood. Overturned furniture. The acrid scent of fear.
"What happened here?" My voice cut through the silence like a blade.
The children froze. Three pairs of eyes stared back at me – wide with terror. The oldest boy, Leo, knelt beside a smaller child, bandaging a bleeding arm. A girl with tangled brown hair cowered behind the couch.
No sign of Hazel.
"Answer me." My command left no room for defiance.
Leo straightened, placing himself between me and the injured child. "We had an incident."
"An incident?" My gaze dropped to the blood-soaked cloth wrapped around the small boy's – Milo's – arm. "You call this an incident?"
Lykos stirred within me, agitated. *Something is wrong.*
I pushed deeper into the cramped space. "Where is she?"
"Sleeping." Leo's voice trembled despite his brave stance. "With Pip."
