Chapter 147 - Two Sins

Nerezza Karesh is the granddaughter of Counselor Lucivar Karesh, one of the main plagues that caused a disaster in the future, and the one who faced her was exactly Rina. On that day when the war began, it was certain that Rina was stronger than her even though they were at the same level, so it was certain who would win that fight. On the ground, Nerezza was lying down and Rina looked at her with respect, even with hatred in her eyes.

"You were a good opponent—"

When Rina was about to deliver the final blow, a blade of thorns pierced her leg, making her fall. The one who had fired that was Malakar. Upon seeing this, Nerezza immediately started fighting her, turning it into a two-against-one battle.

"You are stronger than me and more beautiful, I hate you."

When the fight ended, Malakar left, as Nerezza, with rage, said she would do something. Stepping on Rina's head, she began kicking her face several times as if trying to disfigure it. Rina tried her best to defend herself even with her hands pinned to the ground by thorns.

"Why do you care so much about beauty? Did something happen to you to make you this way?"

She asked that question seriously, and Nerezza stopped before giving another kick and started trembling, her hair covering her eyes.

"This is what my mother told me to do, I obey my mother's orders, I have to be like her... you wouldn't understand... I have to follow my mother."

"...I really don't think I understand."

Rina's eyes seemed calmer, and she was about to say something when she was kicked in the face again. Looking up, she saw Nerezza with a mocking smile.

"Did you really believe that? Humans are always idiots. To tell you the truth, I asked my grandfather to kill her because she was an idiot trying to escape the life we should have."

Stepping on Rina's head, she seemed to have an idea and ended up dragging her somewhere out of sight. Aoi, who was searching for her on the battlefield, couldn't find her.

"Why did you have to go face that damned one alone?"

On that battlefield, they were trying to delay the vampires' arrival with several allies, all because Kai was training with a god to reach circle ten and be able to fight against the evil gods that suddenly invaded the continent.

"I hope you're okay—"

She stopped when she saw something above: a large blood spear. At its tip, Rina's body was pierced all over, and in her eyes there was no trace of life. With a heartbreaking scream, she ran to attack upon seeing Nerezza advance with a smile, accompanied by other vampires.

"That day you died too, Aoi..."

Enrico was leaning against the bed, saying everything in his mind. With that bracelet, with his permission, he could communicate with those inside, so he decided to tell them not to give Nerezza any chance to escape.

Aoi had blood on her hands after breaking a cup in anger. Rina was simply silent with her head down. Angela, seeing the two in that state, decided she would kill that vampire so this wouldn't happen. Even if she didn't know them well, she didn't want the friends of her future young master to end up like that.

"Let me take care of her, it will be quick."

"Yes, you're right, but before that, I'd like to ask the two of you... do you want to leave her in Angela's hands?"

"Sorry Angela, but that's impossible."

"Yes, she committed a huge sin."

The two stood up with anger and determination in their eyes. No way, after hearing about their friend's death, they would let this pass. Each knew they were not just friends—deep down, they were sisters. Even if not by blood, that's how they considered themselves in their hearts.

'No one touches my sister.'

"Very well then, I trust you. Let's see—at this time she's still stronger than you, so I'll tell you some things about her. First, she hates being called ugly or normal, she also..."

The two trembled a little at how he simply trusted them like that, just explaining her weaknesses. That trust in them, as if he knew them well. But something made their hearts tense, because they realized Enrico's voice was a little strained, making them ask themselves a question.

'Did he see it? That...'

'...That damned one will pay.'

Nerezza received two punches to her face, sending her back. At first she thought the two hated the vampire race, but she realized that every blow they dealt was personal.

"You damned brats!"

A blood whip appeared in her hands. Swinging it around, she tried to hit Aoi, who barely dodged.

"Scalding Whip!"

Threads of blood vibrated with embers in the whip. As she pulled it, it went behind Aoi's back. Aoi turned to defend, creating blue flames in front of her. The whip pierced through the flames, going straight for her mask.

"Not in front of me."

A katana cut that whip in half, completely defending Aoi. Both moved to Nerezza's sides.

"Akirama Magic: Decaying Fissure!"

A concentration of mana formed in Nerezza's stomach, creating a crack with branching patterns. It was a magic that spread quickly, corroding and breaking the target from the inside out, as if it were about to collapse. Nerezza spat out a lot of blood and stepped back.

"What kind of magic is this?"

"A magic completely different from my family's, because it's much more destructive."

A fox bit her shoulder, making her scream in pain. Aoi immediately kicked her face, silencing her and sending her into the wall.

Getting up, she used her natural healing to return to the fight immediately, even with that wound in her stomach. She threw explosive blood, created whips in the air, but nothing worked. It was as if they knew what move she would make and all the spells she had.

'I have to do something different, I'll have to use the magic I haven't shown anyone.'

She released a huge blood sphere at Rina, a spell she had been working on in solitary training. But that wasn't all. She moved quickly behind Aoi, preparing another attack.

"I said, not in front of me."

Rina slashed Nerezza's chest, while Aoi summoned a two-tailed fox that released a blue fireball, managing to match her best attack.

"As he said, it's still not complete."

"Yes, it's far from it."

Nerezza didn't know how they knew—if it was a spy or something else—but she couldn't stand those two. Charging offensively, she tried new movements with her body, but still, whenever one was behind cover, the other prevented anything from happening. While one defended, the other attacked. The two made a perfect duo, as if they knew each other's every move, which was true, as they had been friends since childhood.

"Huff... huff... huff..."

She couldn't do anything. When she fell to the ground, she felt an overwhelming fear taking over her. She looked around to see if anyone was close to help, but the fights seemed to have moved elsewhere. She had to live, so she would do whatever it took to survive, as many of them did.

"Please forgive me! I was just following orders, it was my mother, she—"

Blaming her dead mother?

"What an idiot."

Surprised, with false tears, she lifted her eyes to see the two smiling. Not knowing how they knew everything, her mind was in chaos. Their expressions carried rage in their eyes, directed only at her.

"Why do you have those eyes? Why do you hate me?"

Both stepped on her hands, breaking them completely, making her scream. Rina drew her sword once again from its sheath, while Aoi summoned blue fire in her hands.

"We thought you had committed only one sin, but..."

"You actually committed two."

Nerezza's look of fear grew as the two glared at her with increasingly darker eyes.

"The first was killing someone we consider our sister."

"And the second was making the one we love sad."

"And that's why you will die."

After Nerezza's screams in that corridor, after a while, everything went silent.
