Vladimir and Malakar were in the castle, in a section located to the right of it. They were walking toward the room where important items were kept.
"Are you furious that our grandfather is following that boy's orders?"
"He is not obeying him. The one he obeys is Lord Belthar."
"Even so, the order came from him, didn't it? Though it doesn't matter, since thanks to that we can enter here without any problems."
Since the strongest had departed on that mission, leaving only one Circle 8 vampire ranked SS in each territory, it became much easier for them to invade.
'With this, I'll leave this place and enjoy my life as a vampire out there.'
Thinking a little, Vladimir wasn't like this in his previous life. He never enjoyed blood or watching bodies rot; at most, he liked horror stories in his past life.
'This natural vampire instinct seems to have made me worse, especially when I think of Saul.'
"There's no one here, let's go."
Hearing his brother, he entered the room, seeing many valuable and high-level items, but those weren't what they came for. Approaching a safe, Malakar placed his blood in a slot above it. It could only be activated by their family's blood. When the safe opened, both were shocked to see it empty. Vladimir panicked slightly.
"Wait, don't tell me they took it with them? Wouldn't it be dangerous if it got destroyed?"
"Maybe this mission isn't that hard, that's why they carried it with them."
"Or maybe our grandfather hid it somewhere… you know how he is."
Malakar nodded. It was quite possible their grandfather had hidden it, thinking he could use it to grow even stronger. If that were true, they needed to find it quickly, because if he did, Draven would be furious. Of course, he'd already be furious about them stealing his item.
"We have to find it quickly and escape before they return."
They searched for what felt like hours, going through bedrooms and every place in the mansion. They were about to give up when Malakar's most loyal guardian appeared, ranked C.
"Master, I found a hidden place, a secret stash in your father's room."
"You found it, Ozymir? Take me there immediately."
This guard had watched Malakar grow up since birth, always protecting him. So when Malakar asked for help escaping, he accepted immediately, since he had promised Malakar's father that he would look after his son.
'My lord, look at your son. He is just like you—ambitious.'
That was exactly how Malakar's father had been before his death. He had only died at the hands of his own father when he tried to take his place in the council.
'You failed, my lord, but I'll make sure your son gains the power we always wanted.'
Arriving at the place, they entered the stash after using family blood on the door hidden behind the wall.
"As I thought, he really hid it."
Taking the diamond-shaped item, he immediately tried to place it in his coat—but it vanished from his hand. A clap was heard behind them.
"Ambitious, just like your father. That's exactly why he ended up dead."
"You are Morvus."
He was the councilor left in Sanos Reversa to protect the city. Placing the item beside him on the table, Ozymir immediately stood in front, ready to sacrifice himself so his master could escape.
"How about this, Lord Morvus? We could form an alliance, you keep the item, and we just want to leave this dimension. We thought using it could help us survive out there."
"You make good decisions, Lord Vladimir, but I must tell you there's no way for us to form an alliance—because I have a blood contract with your grandfather."
Morvus was a turned vampire, which meant Sanguis was his master. This shocked everyone. Morvus had made a blood contract binding his lineage to forever follow Sanguis's, in exchange for becoming a councilor after proving his worth to Draven. They had kept it a secret that he was actually Sanguis's servant.
"Could you at least let us escape for ten seconds?"
"No."
His smile said it all. Even though he was the youngest councilor, he showed no mercy to his enemies. He raised his hand to finish them, but an explosion in the city interrupted everything.
"What's that?"
Running to the window immediately, he saw several houses on fire and many dead vampires. There were too many, which meant the attack had been happening for minutes without his knowledge.
"We were attacked while we rested? Who made this… plan? It hit exactly when we were at our weakest."
He saw some vampires fighting each other, and even some he recognized from outside the city were now fighting furiously against the city's vampires. Perhaps one had seen what happened and started a fight, warning others in their homes.
"This is… a rebellion."
He turned to see where Malakar was, but all three had vanished with the item. The city was important, but many vampires could defend it. He dashed after them, following their trail with his senses—the item was the most important now.
"Found you."
Moving quickly, he appeared before the three, surprising them in the middle of the street, where battles raged behind them. He thought their surprise was foolish, since they knew he was Circle 8. Taking a step forward:
"I'll make sure to completely eliminate you."
The body of a vampire crashed through a wall, landing in the middle of the street. It was Morvus's 15-year-old son, badly injured but still alive. Looking to the side, he saw Sylas stepping out of the hole, stretching his shoulders, and behind him were Corvina and the three vampires sent to follow Sylas.
"Father, they are traitors."
Sylas seemed surprised to see there was some kind of dispute among them. When he saw Malakar, he whistled loudly, calling a certain person who immediately destroyed a house with a leap. It was Ysabella. She saw Malakar with a cruel, vengeful smile.
Morvus, seeing it all, glared furiously and raised his hand to kill him immediately, firing an explosive blood spell from his palm.
"I'll kill every traitorous piece of trash like you after this."
The spell drew near, and everyone behind him thought they would die—but Sylas merely raised his hand, revealing a bracelet glowing purple.
"Seems someone wants to kill my young master."
Stopping the attack midair, Angela smiled, looking at her opponent. Rina and Aoi stood right beside her. Behind them, Sylas clapped once, surprising everyone with the presence of humans in that place.
"Very well, now let's split the opponents for each one."
