Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Three weeks later.

A black knife flew towards a stack of logs; as it pierced the wind, it produced a "whoosh" sound. With a thump, it imbedded itself in the middle of the log.

"That's 9 out of 10 for Kazu." Miyashi said as Kazu groaned in frustration.

I realize my mistake now; due to the tighter flexor tendons in the palm side of my wrist, the kunai tends to follow a left-skewed path, for that reason, I must either stretch these tendons or strengthen the tendons at the back of my hand to achieve a perfect path.

After studying the anatomy of the wrist from one of the two medical ninjas of the group, Ms. Sashi, a few days ago, he had started rapidly progressing in his kunai throwing skills.

Even from twenty meters away his throws were deadly accurate.

He had only practiced his kunai form for a week, seeking guidance from the shinobi in the camp. Miyashi was pleasantly surprised to learn that his weapons disciple had managed to perfect his form to such an amazing degree.

While most beginners would skip the fundamentals and go straight to throwing with all their strength, ruining their forms and wasting time by relearning it multiple times to their dismay. Kazu only practiced his near-perfect form till it was second nature.

This was one thing Miyashi was impressed by: the boy's patience.

The next week, the boy incorporated strength into his throws. Utilizing the power in his arms and considerably long pullbacks to ensure his throws had the maximum velocity. With his near-perfect form, the kunai neglected most of the air resistance.

The result was powerful and deadly kunai throws that rivaled that of an academy student who had trained for years.

He even created a technique he named "Full arm" throws, which utilized the mobility and power of his entire arms, up to his shoulders. His rate of throwing was reduced in exchange for power. Power that rivaled the normal throws of a genin.

In the third week, he sought guidance from a medical ninja of the group, Ms. Sashi, to understand the anatomical structure of the wrist, something no rational shinobi would bother learning just because of its limited usage.

Yet, the boy did; he sat there with Ms. Sashi as she explained the entire anatomy of the human arm to him in great detail over a single day.

A lesson the other rebels thought was completely useless turned out to be the opposite. The boy's accuracy increased manyfold as he started realizing the true imperfections in his form, the flexion of his wrist, and the tightness in his joints.

Miyashi wanted to deny it, but the boy's kunai-throwing form was more perfected than his, the ideal for "perfection" Kazu was striving for.

All within the span of less than three weeks.

Miyashi looked to the side as Hisai threw her final kunai as well. Kazu gritted his teeth, hoping the kunai would miss, yet it didn't.

It landed square at the center of the log, to his dismay. Kazu braced, expecting the worst, putting his hands over his ears.

"Did you see that, you dimwit?!" Hisai screeched, appearing right in front of him in a flash; it was not a jutsu, it was just her raw speed from excitement.

"And that's 9 out of 10 for Hisai as well." Miyashi said with a sigh. He silently wondered why the girl was so ecstatic; she just had a draw with a kid not even half her age.

"Yes, I did." The boy turned to the other direction, mumbling something about how annoying the girl was. "Why are you this loud?"

Miyashi clapped to draw their attention. he said "Alright, you two, you both have excellent aim, but you need to take the wind and the earth's rotation into account as well."

"How am I even supposed to think of all that in a battle?" Asked the girl, confused.

"Yes, you must think of all that; one kunai could mean life or death." Miyashi told them, and Kazu nodded in affirmation and went to pick up the kunai from the log.

Winds were a lot stronger in the land of water primarily because cold air from the land of lightning often flew towards the country. Because of this reason, the strong winds tend to make the kunai deviate a slight bit, but even centimeters mattered when it came to kunai throwing.

Kazu, after picking up the kunai, went inside the cave, sneakily trying to avoid the girl. She wouldn't stop bothering him if she saw him. Kazu was challenged to the kunai throwing challenge by her, yet even after training as a shinobi for years, she only managed to make a draw with the boy, and she was even happy about it.

Safe to say, Kazu didn't understand the girl.

Various sleeping bags were laid out inside the cave as a sleeping area where they were sheltered from the rain.

He went to a corner, where the rebels had put his designated sleeping bag. He sat down cross-legged and slowly closed his eyes.

This was his second week of trying to find the cool, chilly sensation within his body, his chakra. Since two weeks ago, he has tried unlocking his chakra every day, to his dismay.

He concentrated as the world around him gradually dimmed; the sounds outside started to get barely audible. According to the understanding he had achieved by asking the different shinobi amongst the rebels, chakra is focused on a single point.

This point was the main meridian, or chakra pool. Initially, the chakra pathways are narrow and untrained, so one cannot easily expel chakra from the main meridian.

In medical terms, this was known as chakra dormancy. To expand the chakra pathways, one would need to exert chakra with brute force and expel it out of the chakra tenketsu gradually. Too slow, and the chakra might get reabsorbed; too fast, and the chakra may damage the pathways and tenketsu.

The first step was to first get a feel for the chakra, while many people initially felt a warm sensation from the chakra as a child due to their higher yang chakra and low yin chakra, as they got older, the yin half would surpass the yang half, making their chakra feel cold and icy.

As for a reincarnated person like Kazu, although he had Uzumaki blood, his mind was sharper than most adults, Making his yin chakra greater than his yang chakra; this would result in his chakra feeling chilly even as a four-year-old.

Only once had he grasped it yesterday, managing to guide a single steady stream of chakra out of his palm. He felt like he could unlock more chakra pathways this way.

Around half an hour passed before he managed to grasp the cold, chilly feeling from his chakra pool and guide it towards his other palm.

A stream of chakra escaped out of his palm like water escaping from a hose; the chakra had a red coloring to it. It had confused him yesterday when he found out that his chakra was red instead of blue, as shown in the anime.

Perhaps everyone has a different colored chakra. He thought as he stopped the supply of chakra from his palm, Every Uchiha's susano was a different color; every tailed beast's chakra was a reddish-orange color. Perhaps it was the trait of an Uzumaki like Kazu, who had inherited the red hair from his mother.

While Naruto inherited his blue-colored chakra from his father, it was a probable theory but Kazu needed to ask the shinobi around the camp first.
