Chapter 18 - Chapter — Infiltration of Umbrella: Hunt for the Red Queen

Chapter — Infiltration of Umbrella: Hunt for the Red Queen

Night fell over the destroyed skyline of New York. The streets were littered with wreckage, abandoned cars, and scattered bodies. The sky was reddened by the light of distant explosions, as if the city itself were burning.

Inside the car factory, the convoy was safe, but Daniel knew it was only temporary. He approached Alice, his eyes determined, and said in a low voice:

"We're going to invade Umbrella. Just you and me."

Alice arched an eyebrow, her smile slightly crooked.

"Finally taking the initiative…" she joked, but soon became serious. "What exactly do we want from there?"

Daniel looked at the map spread out on the makeshift metal table.

"The Red Queen. The supercomputer that controls containment protocols, research data, and… possibly the T-Virus antivirus. We need her. Not just for the antivirus, but to expand. Build a real shelter, replicate security, technology… and find more people."

Alice nodded, crossing her arms.

"If we can access the central servers, we can extract data, projects… And, who knows, find priority survivors registered in the system."

Daniel took a deep breath and turned to the group.

"Listen up, everyone. From now on, the doctors will take care of everyone. Professor, the children are your responsibility. They… are what's left of humanity."

The woman, with gray hair and an expression marked by difficult days, nodded with determination.

"I'll protect them as if they were my grandchildren," she said, her eyes teary but firm.

Marcos, the mechanic, approached.

"What about the factory?" he asked.

"You guys keep reinforcing the vehicles," Daniel replied. "Lucas, prioritize the tanker trucks and the main bus. If there's a problem, you need to get out of here."

Lucas, covered in grease and sweat, gave an improvised salute.

— Don't worry, boss.

Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy approached.

— Don't you want us to go with you? — Leon asked, worried.

— Not this time — Daniel replied. — We need discretion, and with fewer people, we can get in and out faster. I trust you to keep the group safe.

Cut scene — On the way to the Umbrella base

Daniel and Alice drove through the destroyed streets aboard an adapted jeep, headlights off, engine barely audible. The streets were infested with zombies, but they avoided confrontation, prioritizing silence.

During the journey, Alice disassembled and reassembled the pistol several times, her gaze cold and attentive.

— You seem too calm — she commented, watching Daniel drive.

— I learned that fear only gets in the way — she replied, her eyes fixed ahead. — And with the system, I'm always two steps ahead.

Alice smiled at the corner of her mouth.

— A mysterious man with hidden tricks… I'm starting to like this.

Arrival at Umbrella's underground facility

Access was discreet, disguised in a seemingly abandoned office building. Camouflaged security cameras, hidden sensors. Alice, an expert in infiltration, disabled the alarms in a matter of minutes.

Underground, steel doors protected the true heart of Umbrella.

Daniel activated the system mentally.

*"Unlock locks."

The system loli responded:

— Hacking… There you go, sweetie. Doors open.

The heavy doors opened with a mechanical whisper.

Inside the base — Cold and Bright Corridors

The environment was aseptic, white walls, fluorescent lighting. Cameras followed every movement. Alice drew her silenced pistol; Daniel, his sword and the special submachine gun.

"Be careful," Alice warned. "They use bio-weapons here." — I know. I'm ready.

They advanced through narrow corridors, passing empty laboratories, observation rooms and sealed compartments. Behind a bulletproof glass, a lab zombie was striking uselessly, its red pupils glowing.

"This… is going to get worse," Alice muttered.

Further ahead, a terminal glowed. Daniel connected a cable, activating the holographic interface.

"System, I want full access."

The loli replied:

"Invading… Oh, what an outdated system. There you go, sweetie. You're in charge here now."

Data appeared: location of the Red Queen, antivirus records, map of the facility, inventory of weapons and vehicles.

An alarm sounded suddenly.

"Invaders detected," said the AI's cold voice.

Zombies began to be released from secret compartments. Doors opened, deformed creatures advancing.

Alice fired accurately, each bullet hitting the head of an infected.

Daniel swung his sword, tearing apart bodies, blood splattering the walls.

"No mercy," he muttered.

The hallway became a battlefield, bodies torn apart by steel and precise gunfire.

In the center of the facility, they reached the main room. A massive server glowed, cables connecting to the Red Queen's central hub.

A hologram of a young woman with red hair and blue eyes appeared.

—Iden

"Tify yourselves," the AI demanded.

Daniel activated the system.

"Master code: Override."

The Red Queen hesitated, then smiled artificially.

"Acknowledged. Initiating alliance protocol."

Conquest of the Red Queen

Data streamed into Daniel's inventory: weapon blueprints, antivirus, genetic records, locations of other Umbrella facilities.

Alice watched in amazement.

"You really know what you're doing."

Daniel smiled.

"We're just getting started."

Before they left, they grabbed antivirus capsules, data drives, and equipment.

Umbrella zombies and soldiers tried to intercept them, but were shot down without mercy.

Back in the jeep, the Red Queen now integrated into the system, Daniel knew: their survival had just changed to a new level.

Alice leaned back in the seat, exhausted but satisfied.

"This madness might work."

Daniel accelerated, eyes fixed on the destroyed horizon.

"It will work. And we will rebuild. A wall, a shelter, an army… It starts now."
