Keira could feel her tummy hurting as she took another bite from her steak, it's been an hour now and she had eaten two different meals, she still had four more to go but she wasn't sure she could take another.
She didn't know what she was thinking when she started ordering all these, it was all part of her bad first impression idea but it wasn't working so well for her. She could feel his gaze on her from across the table.
"Asshole"
Keira murmured under her breath with some crumbs in her mouth, she was sure he heard her but she couldn't tell. He had the same expression on his face since she walked in, cold and intimidating.
After swallowing the last piece of steak, she picked her glass of water and emptied it, she had never eaten this much her whole life. Keira was never fond of food, in fact, she would rather take healthy smoothie and some freshly squeezed orange juice.
"You are not finished"
She heard his deep voice and rage filled her, she raised her head up to meet his gaze, she could tell he was enjoying this, even though his face was blank.
"You can't expect me to eat all of this" Keira spoke in a light tone as she reached her hand out to get her napkin, she wasn't sure she would be able to walk out of here without falling down, she was so full right now.
"Why not? You ordered them" He spoke again with arched brows like his words were suppose to make sense.
In actual truth, he was making sense but Keira just didn't imagine that this would come back to bite her in the ass. She wasn't even expecting to see him here, she thought since she had arrived an hour late, it would be enough reason for the man to go away.
But she was surprised to see him sitting, waiting with a bored expression on his face, it seemed as if nothing in this world could amaze him.
"I can't…" Keira couldn't find the right words to say so she just waved her hand and signaled one of the waiters to come clear the table. She had an embarrassed look on her face when she noticed that the man was still looking at her with his scrutinizing gaze.
"Why were you late? What was so important that you had to keep me waiting for an hour and fifteen minutes" He spoke casually.
Keira couldn't believe that he had the exact time in his head, he spoke like him waiting on someone was a felony. It's not like she forced him to wait, he could have walked out whenever he wanted to, it was his decision to wait and so she wasn't going to let him put this on her.
"You could have walked out whenever you wanted to, I didn't ask you to wait Mr Sy" Keira spoke in the sweetest tone with a smile on her face knowing fully well her words would piss him off but all he did was arch his brows like he was impressed.
"That is no way to talk to your future husband Red" He spoke while he shifted his gaze to her red birkin bad which was hard to miss.
Keira could feel the blood boiling in her veins,
'Future husband, I would rather go to hell than be your wife' of course she couldn't say the words out loud but she was sure the expression on her face gave it away.
"We are not getting married" Keira spoke, trying so hard to mask the anger in her tone. She didn't know why the idea of being married to him got her so riled up like this.
"Why not? A merge between the Sinclair global group and the Sy Law Firm would be great for both parties, especially yours, considering how much loss the Sinclair global group had suffered these past few months" He spoke and then shifted his gaze to her face "Under your leadership"
Keira bit her lips hard as she swallowed every word that wanted to come out of her mouth, she could tell he was doing this on purpose. The man was an asshole. But asides that, she was a bit surprised to find out that to him, the marriage was just about the Merger.
"A marriage should not be a business transaction Mr Sy" Keira spoke. She couldn't begin to explain the concept of marriage to this man, he wouldn't get it. Talking to him was like trying to reason with a blank wall.
"Well unfortunately for you Miss Sinclair, ours is." He spoke and then stood up from his chair, he buttoned his suit jacket and was about walking out when he heard her voice.
"I'm seeing someone else" Keira spoke out loud, but not too loud that others would hear. She had planned not to tell him about it for fear of her father finding out but she just couldn't agree to this marriage. The thought of spending hours, days and even months with this man was making her go crazy.
" I'll have my father withdraw the marriage proposal" His words came out cold and distant and she could hear his footsteps as he walked out of the restaurant.
Keira sighed in relief, if she had known that this would change his mind then she would have said the words sooner. If Liam Sy was no longer interested in the marriage then she was sure her father would back down.
She sat down on her chair for another ten minutes going through her phone, she had missed calls from Xander and a text. She wasn't sure she was ready to talk to him yet, not after what happened tonight.
...….
Liam had his eyes closed as he replayed her words in his head, he didn't want to believe that she seeing someone else. But he didn't know which was more insulting , the fact that she had kept him waiting for an hour or that she had to lie just get out of a marriage contract with him.
It was a shame because Liam knew how many Divas would want to be in the position that she was in right now. The entire time they were dining, not once did she look at him with lust or longing. All the women he had dinner with always had the same look in their eyes, but she was different. The girl was shooting daggers at him the entire time and she acted like she couldn't stand him.
To say the truth, he was a bit insulted, the fact that she wasn't affected by his looks but he was not the type to force things. Marriage was not something he wanted to get into right now and so if the girl was not intrested, then he would let her be.
"Taylor" Liam spoke with his eyes closed.
"Yes boss"
"Take me to the Manor" Liam spoke with his gaze fixed outside the window.
Truth be told, he was a bit curious to know who the girl was seeing, she had turned him down, not to lie, his ego was hurt. Before coming here he had call his private investigator to run a back ground check on Keira Sinclair, he was expecting a call anytime soon.
"Buzz buzz buzz"
Right on time
Liam picked his phone up and answered the call.
"Did you find anything?" Liam asked not bothering to exchange pleasantries.
"Nothing out of the ordinary Mr Sy, although I did notice that she does visit Mr Yang very often. It's possible that it's just a casual meet and greet but I'll look into it further" The man spoke.
Liam could feel his fist curling, he ended the call and tossed his phone back on the car cushion. He should have known that it had to be Xander, he had a grin on his lips while he thought of the information he had just received.
He could ignore this and just go on with his plans but knowing that Xander was involved in this, he saw an opportunity to cause mayhem, call him petty but that was just how his mind worked.
