The CFO's office is similar to the President's office in layout, but the modern glass and chrome has been replaced with polished wood and brass. It reminds Noel unpleasantly of his father's study, an impression that isn't helped by the big mahogany desk at one end and the irritated middle-aged man sitting behind it.
Solomon Quinn doesn't even bother to stand when Noel comes in, but Noel's seen enough pictures to know he's a fairly portly man, with thinning brown hair and broad shoulders. He only looks up when the door closes and his expression is unreservedly angry.
"I don't like having my time wasted, Guide Arden," he says shortly. "Why did you ignore my requests?"
Noel hovers anxiously at the door. "They weren't from you," he points out. "They came through the guidance request system and I wasn't taking requests at the time. If you'd sent me a direct message—"
