"So nobody ever faced any consequences for what happened?"
Jade glances up from the exercise book he's flipping through on his tablet, brows set in an unimpressed line. "Well, someone died, so I'd say at least one person faced consequences."
Noel grimaces, tightening the tuning peg between his fingers. The smarter part of him knows he should just leave well enough alone, that Jade obviously doesn't like talking about it, but he just can't shake the awful knot in his gut. It's just not congruent with his idea of the world that something so terrible happened and no one was punished. Then again, he knows exactly how often his father gets away with crimes and how he does it, so he shouldn't really be shocked. Something about this, though….
