Chapter 80 - Chapter 80 Transfer

Clark figured Coulson probably wanted him to watch over and keep an eye on Diana. After all, if Diana really was Wonder Woman, S.H.I.E.L.D. probably couldn't find anyone else capable of handling her besides him.

But Clark didn't mind the request. So he turned to Diana and said:

"Diana, do you have a place to stay right now?If not, you can crash at my place for a few days.I've got a good friend—you know, someone rich like Bruce Wayne—who gave me a villa."

Of course, Clark already knew Diana didn't have a place to stay. If she did, she wouldn't have been sleeping in his flower shop last night. Still, directly inviting a beautiful woman to live with him felt a little awkward, so he tried to play it casual.

"Clark, you know Bruce?" Diana raised her eyebrows. She remembered that before she left her world, Superman and Batman didn't get along too well. But from the way Clark spoke, it didn't sound like he disliked Batman.

"You'll understand in time," Clark replied.

Although Clark didn't know if this Diana was exactly the same one from his past, the fact that she assumed he didn't know Bruce was enough to suggest she was from before the formation of the Justice League.

But no matter which version of Diana this was, Clark doubted she'd be able to return home. After all, in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, cross-universe travel via the Tesseract had never really happened—not like this.

This dimensional rift between worlds probably occurred due to some special conditions. Even if S.H.I.E.L.D. gave Diana the Tesseract, she wouldn't necessarily know how to use it.And even if she did, there was no guarantee it would open a portal back to the DC universe.

Eventually, Diana would find out who "D" was, and she'd see herself in the comics.

"Alright, I'll stay with you for a few days, then."

Diana thought it over. She really had nowhere else to go. Nothing on this planet was familiar to her—not even the city names.

Even though she wasn't close to Clark yet, in a way, he was the only person in this world she could call 'family.'

"By the way," Clark added, "you haven't eaten anything today, right? There's a great restaurant nearby. Wanna grab something?"

He glanced at the clock—almost 11 a.m.When he'd found Diana earlier, she was still asleep, so she probably hadn't had breakfast yet.

"Uh, Coulson, wanna come with us?"

Clark invited Coulson out of courtesy—but the look in his eyes made it clear he didn't really want him to tag along.

"Nah, I've got work to do. You two go ahead," Coulson replied.

Meanwhile, in a hidden S.H.I.E.L.D. base, Nick Fury watched as technicians placed the Tesseract into a containment chamber.

Each year, the World Security Council gave S.H.I.E.L.D. billions in funding—but thanks to Fury's careful maneuvering, a few billion dollars always ended up unaccounted for.

But Fury hadn't used the money to enrich himself.Instead, he funneled it into constructing multiple secret bases, known only to himself.

So after the last incident involving the Tesseract, he had immediately relocated it.

In Fury's eyes, no matter who Diana was, she posed no real threat to the Cube. But if the Tesseract was exposed, then it had to be moved—risk management 101.

Because Fury knew better than anyone how dangerous the Cube could be.He had once witnessed a cosmic war sparked by the Tesseract. If Captain Marvel hadn't stepped in… Earth would be a very different place.

So Fury had no intention of letting his guard down again.

At that moment, Fury received a report from Coulson about Diana—particularly what Clark had said.

Reading Clark's words, Fury realized something crucial:The Tesseract's power might go far beyond energy manipulation.

He'd always known others were after it, including the Kree. But this? This was big.

"Looks like it's time for some deeper research. Now, as for who should handle it…"

A name came to mind: Dr. Erik Selvig.

Selvig was the only one who'd ever developed a plausible model for the Nine Realms theory—though mainstream science had long dismissed him.

But after the New Mexico incident, Thor had confirmed Selvig's theories through Jane Foster. That was all the validation Fury needed.

No one Fury knew was more qualified to study the Tesseract than Dr. Selvig.

And Diana's arrival made one thing clear—even if the Tesseract is well-guarded, it's still a wild card. The only real way to make it safe was to understand it.

Fury pressed a button on his desk."Bring me Dr. Erik Selvig."

At a steakhouse nearby, Diana looked across the table at Clark.

"Clark… when did you come here?"

Diana felt something… off about this Clark.

He seemed way too comfortable in this world—as if he had no intention of going back.

Maybe it was just the shock of being in a foreign world, but deep down, Diana had been hoping she wasn't alone here. That someone—anyone—might be like her.

And Clark? Same name. Same face. Same powers. He had to be a fellow outsider.

"I've been here for a while," Clark said slowly."And… I might not be who you think I am.I'm probably not the Clark you knew.If you really think about it… I'm half this world by now."

The question caught Clark off guard. He thought of his origins—so strange and inexplicable.A baby born from a meteor, of all things.

He still didn't know if he had become the meteor,or had simply been placed inside it.But one thing was certain—his origins weren't ordinary.

The last thing Clark wanted was for someone to show up one day claiming to be his father.

Though honestly, he figured if his parents were anything like Superman's…they probably could burp holes in the sky.

"I know the name Clark Kent might've misled you," he said with a wry smile,"but I grew up here.My dad just really liked Superman,so he gave me the same name."

(Fun fact: the actor who plays Coulson is also named Clark!)

Glancing at their plates, Clark saw that they were almost done eating.
