I had to admit that the old man knew his shit. How else could I explain his knowledge about the goods my rival had stacked up in his underground warehouse.
Brian and I didn't speak about him again, but we both knew that we had been defeated. Our expectations were cut short and exceeded even.
I changed my mind about getting back to the pack when we were already halfway there.
"What's the problem?" Brian asked, surprised that I asked him to stop the car.
"I need to see Rex first before going to the pack." I replied.
"I thought you did." He asked. I smacked my lips but didn't respond.
I wanted to confront Rex again. I knew he would be smug when he learned that what the old man said came through, but I wanted to push further, see if I could get anything from him.
"I want to see him again." I replied and tried to alight the car, but Brian held me back.
"Don't." He said.
I arched my brows.
