Days later. Arthur was dreaming. Dreaming he was in a blank world. Standing on a small platform of stone. In front of him sat a man. Cloaked. Arthur took a step forward. And the man lifted his head.
"So…you've finally come. Haven't you?"
The man spoke. His voice rough, like he hadn't had water in ages. Arthur looked at him. His eyes searching the man. He couldn't see the man's face. Nor his body. The cloak covered his entire form. Engulfing his body.
"And you are…?"
The man looked at Arthur and let out a chuckle.
"You don't recognize me? I'm—"
Arthur suddenly woke up. Bursting up in a cold sweat. Although there was no need for food, water, or sleep in the labyrinth, it was certainly something he'd prefer to have. Across the hallway of the labyrinth. Revan was still asleep. Her raven hair draped across her form. Arthur stood up and sighed, adjusting the black tunic and leather pants he had on. He summoned the moonlight blade from his inventory and looked up and down the hallway. Revan and Arthur had followed the path his eyes sought, the density in mana was thick where they followed. And the air had shifted once again.
'This again…something's off today…'
Revan slowly woke up after him. Getting up and adjusting her hair. She looked at Arthur and tied her hair back into a high ponytail.
"What is it now? You're wistfully staring."
Arthur raised an eyebrow.
"Wistfully?"
Revan just shook her head and summoned her bow.
"Can I ask you a question, Arthur?"
Arthur nodded while taking a few practice swings with his sword. He tried to keep the muscle memory from the man who possessed his body. A mimic of that man's sword style.
"Do you…remember anything from Earth?"
Arthur paused. He hadn't thought it over for a while. In fact. He couldn't exactly muster up the thoughts. Despite remembering he was from earth. He only remembered a few things. Even his knowledge of the game was starting to fade.
"…a little bit."
Revan sighed and crossed her arms.
"Yeah. Me too. I remembered a lot more when we first got here. But now it's like…I've always been here. The memories of this…character, are starting to make more of a priority in my mind."
Arthur had a feeling why his memories of Earth were starting to dissipate. His memories of the past on earth, the past here, and the future. 1000 years of a life. Were clashing together in his mind. But only the memories of the present and the past in this world were prevalent. His memories of the future were very lacking. Besides those final moments. And…her. Which he didn't feel like thinking about. But he had no idea what she might be going through. For her memories to be dissipating.
He scratched the back of his head and they continued walking down the labyrinth. Following the path of the mana. They had been walking for days. But he knew they were approaching the 'destination'. He could feel it. After a few minutes of walking. They heard scratching against the walls of the labyrinth. Arthur and Revan looked at each other. Before the scratching louder, like it was coming from every wall. Arthur focused using his dragon senses. And felt huge hordes of monsters from the separate hallways, each one of them coming towards them.
"Revan!"
Revan nodded and drew her bow. As hundreds of small frenzied goblins turned the corners and ran towards them. Basically piling over each other.
Revan took a deep breath and focused her mana into an arrow.
"Ignis, lord spirit of hellfire, I call upon you!"
Half of a body emerged from behind Revan. A being made of pure crimson flame. And looked towards her. It didn't say a word. A dissipated into her arrow. Revan released the arrow. Sending a beam of flame as wide and tall as the hallways of the labyrinth. Incinerating the main horde.
Arthur took a good look at her.
'How the hell is she so strong? Even I can't do that yet…and I have all of these goddamn cheat abilities…'
