"Alright, that works perfectly." I was about to end the call when inspiration struck. "Would you be interested in having lunch together tomorrow?"
"I'd like that."
My pulse quickened, but I kept my voice steady. "I'll see you tomorrow then."
"Until tomorrow."
After disconnecting, I couldn't suppress the smile that spread across my face. I actually giggled to myself for several minutes.
My phone buzzed with a text notification from Mack Ben's bank. A payment confirmation.
I typed back a quick acknowledgment and immediately accessed my banking app to transfer the money back to him.
This euphoric mood carried me through most of the afternoon.
I was rushing to complete the pleated wrap skirt, planning another late night at the studio, when my phone interrupted my concentration. I stood up, grateful for the break.
The caller ID made my stomach drop. Jasper Tristan.
He'd been silent for days. Now he was reaching out, undoubtedly about the divorce proceedings.
