Freya's POV
Mack Ben walked out of my hospital room, and sleep refused to come that entire night.
I woke up far later than usual the following morning.
During the doctor's morning rounds, I pressed him about my condition. Learning it was nothing severe and that I only needed several days of bed rest, I immediately requested discharge.
I couldn't risk staying longer, terrified of deeper complications with Mack Ben.
Back at my new rental, the space felt more open and luminous than my previous home. Even my parrot seemed enchanted by it.
The moment the bird spotted me, it rushed forward with excited chirping.
But I could no longer take it for walks like before.
"Miss Freya, please rest while I take the parrot outside," Belinda offered thoughtfully, already preparing the leash before heading out.
I sank into the sofa, my palm instinctively settling over my stomach.
Despite being home, anxiety still churned within me.
