Katie Harriet refused to give me a straight answer. She stepped out with her phone pressed to her ear, leaving me wondering what scheme she was cooking up now. When she returned, a stunning young woman followed behind her.
The girl looked like she had stepped out of a fashion magazine. Her custom Japanese schoolgirl outfit hugged her petite frame perfectly, radiating an infectious youthful energy that made everyone in the room take notice. Her makeup was flawless, transforming her into a living doll with porcelain skin and impossibly long lashes.
My first thought was confusion. How did Katie Harriet befriend someone who looked barely out of high school? The girl seemed to belong in a completely different social circle.
But something about her face nagged at me. I studied her features more carefully, and suddenly recognition hit me like a lightning bolt.
This was the mysterious Porsche driver who had given me a ride from the hospital weeks ago!
