Freya's POV
I had just set my phone down when his words hit me like a lightning bolt, freezing every muscle in my body.
Add a word? Boyfriend? He was clearly trying to define what we were to each other.
I stole a glance at his devastatingly handsome profile, my pulse hammering against my ribs. Summoning every ounce of courage I possessed, I whispered, "So you're planning to take all one hundred steps right here, right now?"
His laughter filled the car, rich and warm. He shot me a sideways look. "How many steps would you like me to take at this moment?"
My mouth felt like cotton. I licked my lips nervously before managing, "Could you maybe stop at ninety-nine steps and save the last one for me?"
The words tumbled out before I could stop them, and suddenly my heart wasn't just racing anymore. My entire head was spinning like a carnival ride.
Mack's eyes widened in genuine surprise just as the car rolled to a stop at a red light.
