Chapter 87 - Chapter 87: Stop

Chapter 87: Stop

Absurd.

Sasuke regarded the Uchiha clan as a symbol of honor, but in Danzo's eyes, it was nothing more than a tumor to be excised.

The clan records clearly stated—

The Uchiha and Senju clans founded Konohagakure together, and countless Uchiha heroes later gave their lives during the Great Ninja Wars to protect the village.

Their remains were buried in the village cemetery, their names carved on the Memorial Stone.

"All of it was to protect Konoha."

Danzo's cold voice was like a spark setting dry wood ablaze.

To him, the Uchiha had always been the greatest threat to the village's stability. Their destruction was righteous.

The Second Hokage had granted them control over the Police Force. It seemed like favoritism, but it only caused the other clans to envy and isolate the Uchiha.

Because of that, even when other clans caught wind of rumors, they looked the other way. Some even refused to warn the Uchiha.

During the wars, Uchiha ninja were repeatedly sent to fight the Mist Village.

Many Uchiha, adept in Fire Release, were killed by Mist shinobi.

Even in peacetime, they were often stationed near the Land of Water, constantly weakening the clan's strength.

Eventually—

They fulfilled the mission of exterminating the Uchiha, and with the "tumor" removed, Konoha could finally stabilize and focus on dominating the ninja world.

"Then what about this?!"

Sasuke's expression turned ice cold as he pulled out the copied research data on the human experiments.

Missing Konoha ninja—abducted and used in secret experiments under Danzo's orders.

"My clan never harmed a single village shinobi. Yet you branded us as a threat. But you—"

"You're a village elder conducting human experiments on your own people! Collaborating with a traitor like Orochimaru—was that for the village too?!"

The documents bore Root's seal—items Danzo himself had authorized.

The evidence was undeniable.

Danzo had been waiting for him to reveal the documents. That's why he'd entertained this exchange at all.

"Wind Style: Vacuum Barrage!"

Wind chakra surged violently.

His throat swelled as waves of vacuum blades intertwined, forming a net of cutting air aimed directly at Sasuke.

Branches were shredded instantly, raining down in tatters.

Black Flame Binding.

Sasuke rolled to the side, swinging his blade. A string of bead-like black flames landed ahead, rising into a barrier of flame.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The vacuum waves slammed into the barrier, tearing gaps into it—but they couldn't fully destroy it. The remaining wind chakra was devoured by the black flames.

Flame Dance.

A slash of his sword sent out waves of butterfly-shaped black flames that fluttered out like living beings.

"Can't take that head-on."

Danzo had seen this technique's power before—enough to level an entire forest. Last time, it had forced him to waste a precious Sharingan on Izanagi.

He leapt back to increase the distance and released a wind technique to blow the butterflies away.

Flame Sword Dance.

Black flames surged violently around Sasuke as four blazing swords appeared behind him.

With a sweeping motion, the four flaming swords shot forward in streaks, precisely slicing through the black butterflies and cutting off Danzo's retreat.

Boom!

Another massive explosion engulfed the Forest of Death.

As the black inferno receded, Danzo reemerged unscathed, face twisted in fury.

Taking that kind of blast point-blank—yet showing no damage—meant he had burned another Sharingan to activate Izanagi.

"Reincarnation Game… How ridiculous."

Danzo suddenly felt a chill down his spine.

Though he had crafted a cover story to blame Orochimaru, what if the game merchant figured out the truth?

He dared to send Jackal to probe the merchant only because some Reincarnation Game players were from Konoha.

In the world of shinobi, such tests were common—even Hiruzen had faced assassination attempts. Danzo didn't believe a single probe would make the merchant turn against the village.

His confidence lay in Konoha itself.

But now—

Seeing how Sasuke had grown from a genin he could crush with one hand to a shinobi capable of going toe-to-toe with him in just half a year…

Perhaps he had underestimated the game merchant's power.

If that man ever turned hostile—could Konoha truly bear the consequences?

The thought made Danzo flinch. He told himself, "Everything I do is for the village. My decisions weren't wrong. If the merchant barged into the village without understanding the risks, he's the reckless one."

In his brief distraction—

Sasuke seized the opening. Bending his knees, he leapt high into the air, suspended midair.

He reached behind him—

And hurled a rain of black flame swords, crashing down like a storm, triggering waves of heat and shockwaves on impact.

Only when all the black flame had burned out and no more swords could be conjured—

Did Sasuke grasp his final blade and descend like a missile.

Boom!

A deep crater formed as cracks webbed across the earth, charred black from the heat.

"Damn brat! You think you'll escape the Forest of Death after assaulting a Konoha elder?!"

Danzo's voice rang out.

The Sharingan in his right arm slowly closed, and Danzo's heart ached at the loss.

Summoning Jutsu: Baku.

A burst of white smoke—

A massive elephantine creature appeared, its trunk releasing gusts of white mist.

Its fangs parted—

Powerful suction infused with Wind Release tore trees from their roots and sent soil flying, swallowing everything in its path.

Sasuke, panting heavily, grabbed onto a rock.

But even the boulder was yanked upward.

After unleashing so many powerful purple-grade skills, he was out of chakra and stamina—helpless to resist Danzo's counterattack.

Damn it!

He fought to escape the Baku's pull. He had just uncovered the truth behind the Uchiha massacre—he couldn't die here!

He still wasn't strong enough.

He needed to hunt more corrupted monsters, earn more reward points, bind higher-grade armor and accessories, and max out his skills.

"Stop!"

A shuriken flew through the air, striking Baku's right eye dead-on, making it screech in agony as its Wind Release abruptly ceased.

Kakashi Hatake appeared, catching Sasuke mid-fall.

"What a mess."

Kakashi glanced around at the devastated Forest of Death and sighed in exasperation.

Especially—

He glanced sideways at Danzo, who was calmly rewrapping the bandages on his arm and reattaching the sealing device, hiding the aura he had released during battle.

Did he see that right…?

Were those Sharingan embedded in Danzo's arm?

"Sasuke, you've really gotten me into trouble this time."

Kakashi scratched his silver hair, looking troubled.

But his body subtly shifted in front of Sasuke, lifting the headband that covered his left eye and placing himself between Danzo and the boy.
