Chapter 86: Exposed
"Sharingan?!"
Sasuke struggled to shift his gaze, and when he finally saw Danzo's entire arm covered in Sharingan like tattoos, his expression turned to shock and disbelief.
"But it doesn't matter."
Danzo lowered his body, locking eyes with Sasuke. A glint of greed flashed in his eyes.
Because of his earlier carelessness, he had nearly been killed by one of Sasuke's bizarre abilities, which forced him to sacrifice one of his Sharingan to activate Izanagi.
That was a powerful ocular jutsu he had retrieved through Root operatives after the Uchiha massacre.
Once activated, one Sharingan would go blind permanently.
Its effect: it allowed the user to rewrite reality within one minute. Even after death, they could revive without harm.
"A wasted Sharingan… will soon be replaced."
Danzo said nothing more, expression cold as he raised his left arm, fingers slowly reaching for Sasuke's eye.
"Tell me the truth behind the massacre!"
Even with death at his throat, Sasuke thrashed furiously, eyes filled with unyielding defiance.
The sight of the human experiments, of Danzo's arm transplanted with multiple Sharingan…
Sasuke was certain: Konoha was deeply involved in the Uchiha clan's downfall.
With his growing power, he was no longer the naive child anyone could manipulate.
Even with Mangekyō, wiping out the entire Uchiha clan alone would've been near impossible.
Was the whole clan weaklings?
Even if they couldn't beat Itachi, why didn't anyone escape and ask the village for help?
Sure, the Uchiha compound was distant from the center of the village, but any major battle would've caused shockwaves. Where were the Barrier Corps? Why didn't ANBU respond?
The more he thought, the more suspicious it became.
He felt almost laughable for having been fooled by such a clumsy lie for so long.
"Those eyes again…"
Danzo frowned, staring coldly at Sasuke. "That's the same look the Uchiha vermin gave me before I killed them."
On the night of the massacre, Root had recovered some of the Uchiha corpses.
Danzo himself had personally executed several of the severely wounded, taking their eyes afterward.
All of them had glared at him with eyes filled with hatred so deep it could never fade.
"The village protected everyone. But the Uchiha? They had no village in their hearts. They sought power and position—eventually standing against every other clan in the village, planning rebellion. Should such evil not be purged?"
His tone was calm—almost proud.
He truly believed he had made the right call.
If his teacher had been alive, he would've approved too.
"So that's the real reason behind the Uchiha massacre?"
Black flames erupted around Sasuke's body—only for Danzo to silence him with a punch to the gut.
It felt like his organs were about to burst.
"Still not enough for you?"
Danzo's voice remained flat. "If we had allowed the Uchiha to launch their rebellion, the damage to the village would've been catastrophic. Enemy nations would have seized the opportunity to invade. Konoha would have been destroyed."
"The Uchiha were a cancer. If we didn't remove them in time, they would've doomed the village."
Rage.
A storm of rage erupted from Sasuke's heart.
His eyes wept blood as he roared, "So Uchiha Itachi worked with the village to slaughter his own clan?!"
He remembered the old records hidden in the Naka Shrine.
Many believed Itachi to be a traitor. He had turned his back on his clan to side with the village.
Danzo nodded. "According to my teacher, Uchiha Itachi was a rare exception. Like Uchiha Kagami—he was one of the few to inherit the Will of Fire."
Danzo despised the Uchiha clan.
But he respected Itachi.
A foolish yet razor-sharp blade.
Especially with those Mangekyō Sharingan… if only he could—
"The Will of Fire?"
Sasuke's face twisted in agony, his voice rising into a roar. "So the Will of Fire means even civilians—those who aren't even shinobi—deserved to die?!"
Danzo remained expressionless. It was as if he were stating a fact. He nodded. "If you don't remove the roots, weeds will always grow back."
As if what he'd exterminated weren't people, but livestock without thoughts or will.
"I'm very disappointed in you, Uchiha Sasuke."
"You lack Itachi's mindset. All I see in you is hatred toward the village. For the village's sake, I must kill you!"
His voice turned cold. He didn't want to wait any longer.
Originally, he thought revealing the truth of the Uchiha massacre might awaken Sasuke's eyes—he was, after all, Itachi's younger brother. Maybe he could inherit Itachi's power.
Then Danzo would acquire a pair of Mangekyō Sharingan.
What a pity.
In that case… die.
"You're the one who should die!"
Sasuke's voice turned chillingly cold.
Black flame surged from his entire body—hotter than before, like it could burn the whole world.
Danzo's hand, gripping Sasuke's throat, was scorched immediately. The pain shot straight to his brain.
Tsss…
He wanted to crush Sasuke's neck, but couldn't.
The black flame had already formed a thick armor, guarding Sasuke's throat.
"Damn… If this continues, my right arm will lose control!"
Danzo suddenly realized that after being scorched, the energy within his body was starting to go wild. Balance was breaking.
He released Sasuke and retreated.
From his robes, he pulled the remainder of a secret elixir and downed it in one gulp.
Freed from the chokehold, Sasuke didn't smile.
His face was pained.
He had just received a Purple Soul Scroll as a reward—and he had to break it into two Blue Soul Scrolls to trigger his black flame burst.
Soul-binding the right gear was the only way he could escape Danzo's grip.
The Reincarnation Game had countless armor sets, each with unique properties:
Strength sets, Agility sets, Constitution sets, Spirit sets…
There were also elemental sets—like the Flame Wraith Essence set he had just bound to his soul.
It boosted his fire damage by 30 points.
With that, he managed to overpower Danzo, who was at jonin level.
But it came at a price.
A Blue Soul Scroll usually sold for 1,000 reward points. In urgent cases, merchants might sell for 800.
A Purple Soul Scroll? It never went for less than 5,000.
And he hadn't saved any Blue Scrolls…
What a loss.
"Even if the traitorous Uchiha deserved to die—what about my father?!"
Learning the truth only made Sasuke see Itachi as more foolish and twisted.
How could he follow Danzo so willingly?
"My father tried everything to ease tensions between the clan and the village."
"It wasn't just him—many in the clan opposed the rebellion."
"There was old man Handa. He wasn't even a shinobi—just a pancake shop owner. He donated profits to feed village orphans. What was his crime?"
"Madam Kei, who ran the supply store. Big Uncle Ryō from the barbecue stand. The babies in their cribs… What did they do wrong?!"
Sasuke's face contorted with grief, his eyes bleeding scarlet tears.
He tried to suppress his emotions. He knew it would throw off his rhythm in battle.
But he couldn't stop himself.
"There are many reasons a person deserves to die—but being born isn't one of them!"
