Jasper's jaw tightened almost imperceptibly but he didn't say anything further. He turned to Hiraya, his tone softened slightly, but his eyes darkened.
"Lita, go to your room and wait...."
"Carmelita will stay and finish her breakfast." Joel cut him off before he could complete his statement, his tone leaving no room for argument. "Now leave my sight."
Jasper's fists clenched tighter, his eyes narrowing in slits at his father. "You gave me your words."
"And so did you." Joel countered.
"Stop whining like a girl and let's get going before those bastards disappear." Shane roughly slapped Jasper on the shoulder, his voice playful but his eyes murderous.
"You should be more worried about the head of Relios instead of quarrelling with your father over a pretty face." Raphael teased, picking up his greased-covered serrated dagger and wiping it on the sleeve of his jacket.
