Seraphina's POV
There was a whisper that sounded in the room like ice sliding into my veins.
"She is already here…"
Kira's dagger was still in her hand before I could breathe. Myra's arm shot out, stopping her from moving closer to the frozen messenger's body. The body's broken lips were still turned in that smile that is not natural, the piece of ice falling from his face.
The baby in my arms moved. My wolf's voice roared in my mind. "Get him out. Now."
But Myra didn't move toward the door. Instead, her eyes looked directly into mine, calm and unmoving. "Sera, listen to me. The danger is not only outside these walls. It's inside you."
"What? Now is not the time for riddles and jokes please." My voice sounded out stronger than I expected.
"It is always the time, you have felt it, right? The pull between wanting to protect and wanting to destroy." She stopped, moving a bit closer.
The firelight caught her hair making her look like she had been drawn by the moonlight itself.
