The Child's First Cry
Seraphina's POV
Then after a while, I suddenly noticed that the child had not even been crying since I gave birth to him and he didn't even move. I had to call Myra's attention to it.
"Myra… why is he not crying?"
"Myra… why is he not crying?"
The sentence came out of me before I could even stop it, panic filled all through my veins. My arms were so painful to hold him, but Myra quickly stood up and bent over the tiny bundle, her eyes checked every part of him with almost extreme focus.
The place in the Moon shore Fortress felt like it paused for a while. Outside the storm that had been raging althrough my labor had died down as if it was silenced by an unseen hand.
Even the sea that has always been restless had now gone quiet, what happened was that there was no wind, no waves, but just only the sound of my shallow and weak breath.
"He is breathing, strong heartbeat…his lungs were clear." Myra said finally, though her voice held a tremor.
