Klein nodded silently, skipping the topic and asking, "What is the opportunity you mentioned for digesting the Miracle Invoker potion?"
Leyton nodded, his tone calm as he said, "A miracle of resurrection."
Klein was somewhat surprised, yet not entirely shocked; he had already suspected as much when he saw the crystal ball.
After two seconds of quiet thought, he spoke, "This belongs to the Miracle Invoker's ability. The miracle of resurrection is essentially a deeper utilization of past power. Mr. Door is not an angel of this Pathway, nor does he possess the authority of history. Even if I wanted to help him draw upon a miracle, I couldn't."
"Just tell me your thoughts. Since you came to me, you must have already considered it."
Leyton nodded slightly, leaned back against the chair, and said with a smile, "This is not impossible. Deceiving fate and fooling history—your three Pathways are experts in this regard."
"Deceiving fate? Fooling history?" Klein repeated the two phrases, a flash of inspiration seemingly appearing in his mind, but it couldn't fully form.
Seeing Klein in thought, Leyton smiled and tapped the armrest on the right side of the high-backed chair, explaining simply, "You can rely on the characteristics left behind by Mr. Door to retrieve a projection of him from history—a projection from before he accommodated the Uniqueness, or even before he became an angel. At that time, he was most likely not corrupted."
"I can strip away the mental imprint left by Mr. Door and stitch it together with his Historical Projection. Then, I'll fill in the gaps with false information, extending the duration of the Historical Projection, allowing him to awaken a segment of self."
"Given that Mr. Door has already fallen, this Historical Projection can be considered equivalent to him. In this state, he can accommodate a portion of a Seer Pathway characteristic, and finally, you can draw upon a miracle for him."
After listening to Leyton's description, Klein frowned and said, "Historical projections do not die; they merely return to the historical void after exhausting their spirituality."
"I will use corresponding knowledge and information to maintain his existence, by imbuing abstract knowledge with substantial power, disguising him as a normal living being rather than a Historical Projection. Of course, this requires some cooperation at the rule level."
Leyton meticulously explained the solution he had conceived.
Frowning in thought for a moment, Klein then took out a gold coin and performed a divination. Only then did he nod and say, "We can try."
"But, a person who has already died shouldn't be able to provide feedback for a wish anymore."
Leyton smiled and casually replied, "This is the wish of the entire Abraham Family, and to some extent, my wish, though far less important than uncovering the seal of the Western Continent."
"Alright, but they need to make the wish first."
Klein nodded. He wasn't averse to this attempt; after all, he wouldn't suffer any losses if it failed. If it succeeded, not only could he digest the potion, but he could also gain an ally against Amon. More importantly, he might find the catalyst for his godhood ritual through this.
Heh, what am I thinking? I'm only Sequence 2, still one Sequence 1 away from godhood. Moreover, for the godhood ritual's requirement of fooling time, history, or fate, this attempt might be a bit too simple.
Collecting his thoughts, Klein and Leyton continued to discuss the details until the attempt to revive Mr. Door was fully finalized.
He then looked down at the book, enveloped in dark shadows, placed on the table closer to him. The boundless Gray Fog surged again, and an invisible force continuously washed over the book.
As time passed, the dark shadows wrapping the book flaked off in pieces, revealing the brass-colored cover of the Trunsoest Brass Book.
Freed from the suppression of the Shadow of Order, the Trunsoest Brass Book spontaneously flipped open, quickly turning past the unchangeable gray-black front section. On the blank pages of the latter half, silver-white words spontaneously appeared one by one.
These words appeared simultaneously on the first line of the first page and the last line of the last page. Just halfway through their appearance, the silver-white words stopped, as if jammed.
A moment later, at the top of the blank page, a line of small silver-white text appeared: The following rules are invalid.
The silver-white words disappeared one by one, then reappeared, and then repeated the scene from just now.
Seeing his grafting take effect, causing this Uniqueness-evolved Trunsoest Brass Book to fall into a state of repeatedly bugging out, Klein smiled slightly, then increased the intensity of the Gray Fog washing over the book.
Time passed bit by bit. Klein noticed that the Trunsoest Brass Book's resistance to this Gray Fog had weakened somewhat; it seemed to have begun to adapt to the environment here... or rather, it had been thoroughly marinated.
Indeed, the best way to resolve corruption is to infect it with another kind of corruption and replace it, and Sefirah Castle happens to have such an ability. As for what to do with the new corruption, that's none of my business. Anyway, I've fulfilled the Great Emperor's wish; he can slowly resolve the rest himself.
As thoughts flickered, Klein manipulated the Gray Fog to form a hand, picked up the Trunsoest Brass Book, and casually tossed it towards a phantom star above the boundless Gray Fog.
Using the connection established by the phantom star and the black "curtain" draped over him, he completed a grafting, sending the Trunsoest Brass Book into the captain's cabin of the Dawn, into the hands of Roselle's projection lingering there.
At this instant, Klein felt something within him quietly shattering, completely integrating into himself. A large portion of his Miracle Invoker potion was instantly digested.
As expected of a Sequence 0 Black Emperor; just a casual wish's feedback allowed me to digest so much of the potion. I really want to find a few more True Gods and have them make wishes to me.
As he pondered, his gaze once again fell upon Leyton.
Feeling Klein's gaze, Leyton shrugged his shoulders and said in a flat tone, "I have already provided one opportunity to fulfill a wish. You can go find Evernight, or the Seven Lights, or Mr. Azik, or that Snake of Fate who loves ice cream. They always have some wishes within your power."
Klein nodded lightly; he already had some ideas in mind.
Backlund, Dr. Ceres's house.
Will Auceptin, sitting in his stroller, rolled his eyes and looked at the ice cream Klein offered him, saying rather speechlessly, "So, this is your excuse for giving me fake ice cream?"
Klein self-consciously raised a hand to touch his nose and explained, "It's not fake. Within the fifteen minutes that the Beyonder ability is effective, it is real ice cream. And after the duration ends, it will disappear directly from your stomach, allowing you to enjoy the deliciousness of ice cream without affecting a baby's health."
Will Auceptin showed an expression that was hard to describe, looking at Klein and saying, "Then why didn't you just give me all fake ice cream? Why hide it among a pile of real ice cream? Are you sure you're not feeling guilty?"
"I must tell you, deceiving me doesn't count as deceiving fate, unless I become the Wheel of Fortune; only then would it be considered a part of fate."
"Moreover, such a small amount of ice cream won't affect the health of a Snake of Fate."
Klein nodded without much disappointment, took out the few ice creams he had retrieved from the historical void, and handed the remaining real ice cream to Will, saying, "Alright, then the remaining ice cream will be my apology."
"That's more like it."
Will Auceptin, sitting in his stroller, looked like a miniature adult. He took the ice cream Klein handed him and began to eat it.
Seeing Will engrossed in the ice cream and no longer dwelling on the issue of the fake ice cream, Klein seized the opportunity to ask, "Do you know where there's an opportunity to help people fulfill wishes?"
"Right now, there is."
Will Auceptin casually replied, then continued to eat his ice cream with relish, even licking the corners of his mouth after finishing.
Klein watched the satisfied Will Auceptin. That feedback of fulfilling a wish appeared again, and his Miracle Invoker potion within him digested a bit more.
Looking up at the still somewhat bewildered Klein, Will Auceptin licked his lips and said, "Because I've eaten too much ice cream recently, my father is worried about my health and said I can't have any more ice cream this week. It's a good thing you came."
Klein nodded silently. He even suspected that the idea of bringing ice cream to Will to fulfill his wish might have been influenced by the other party.
After fulfilling a Snake of Fate's wish for ice cream, Klein turned and went to St. Samuel Cathedral in the West Borough.
He offered a prayer to Evernight Goddess in the prayer hall, expressing his desire to help people fulfill wishes.
He had originally thought the Goddess would ask him to fetch water from the River of Eternal Darkness, but the Goddess did not respond to his prayer at all.
The War of the Gods had only recently ended; the Goddess was likely still digesting her gains from it and didn't have time to pay attention to too many prayers.
As thoughts flickered, he saw Leonard walking out from the back of the prayer hall. The other party also saw him, and both were visibly stunned for a moment.
Klein withdrew his gaze, turned, and left the prayer hall. On the edge of the now lively square, he fed the white doves that had flown back from who knows where after the war ended.
Not long after, Leonard appeared beside him and casually asked, "Were you just praying to the Goddess?"
Klein nodded silently, then paused. Seeing that Leonard didn't ask anything further, he changed the subject and said, "Do you have any wishes recently? Or does Pallez Zoroast have any wishes?"
"Wishes?" Leonard was startled for a moment, then said with some uncertainty, "Does digesting the Nighthawk potion count?"
Klein nodded and said, "It counts. I will create some suitable environments for you to digest the potion."
