Klein couldn't come up with a reasonable explanation, but Leyton just waved his hand casually, skipping the topic.
Adjusting his expression, Leyton asked with feigned curiosity:
"What Pathway is that Card of Blasphemy from?"
Seeing that the other party didn't intend to pursue how he had managed those things last night, Klein breathed a sigh of relief, then smiled and said:
"The Black Emperor Pathway, as you mentioned earlier."
"The Black Emperor's advancement ritual requires possessing one's own kingdom, linking one's name with the title of Emperor, and making it common knowledge among the populace."
"Additionally, it requires establishing a rigorous and complex set of rules that defy normal circumstances, compelling the populace to build nine pyramid-like mausoleums, then entering one of them, and consuming the Sequence 0 potion during corresponding sacrificial rituals participated in by the vast majority of the populace, spread across different Cities."
Leyton nodded, pretending to hear it for the first time, a hint of surprise in his eyes.
He then added:
"The Black Emperor Pathway excels at twisting and utilizing rules. The Black Emperor's resurrection ability might just be exploiting a loophole in death."
Klein nodded in agreement, finding the speculation very reasonable.
Leyton said nothing more, sitting quietly in his chair with his eyes closed, resting, waiting for Klein to finish his breakfast.
Klein also realized that the other party seemed to be waiting for him, so he slightly sped up his breakfast.
After finishing his breakfast, Klein looked at Leyton curiously and asked:
"Do you have anything planned for today?"
"No," Leyton shook his head slightly, then added:
"What are your plans for today? I have a premonition that I should follow you during this period."
"Hmm? Follow me? Why?"
Klein asked, very confused.
Leyton rubbed his chin with his right hand, appearing to be thinking, and said:
"Just a premonition. I don't know why either; it's just an intuition about the future."
"Thump! Thump!" came a knock on the door.
Klein got up to open the door. As soon as his hand touched the doorknob, the scene outside the door appeared in his mind.
An old man with white hair and beard, wearing a simple brown robe, stood outside the door with his eyes tightly closed.
Klein recognized him as Old Mister Destiny, the neighbor who often visited Leyton.
Klein subconsciously glanced at Leyton, thinking that the old man was still looking for him.
Turning the doorknob and opening the door, Klein politely stepped aside, making way and inviting the other party in:
"Good morning, Old Mister Destiny."
"Good morning, Detective."
Leyton, sitting in a chair in the dining room, was slightly startled to see Destiny enter. He quickly connected it to his premonition.
"Destiny?" Leyton murmured softly.
Although Destiny's eyes were closed, his walking pace was completely unaffected. He seemed to have no worries about tripping or stumbling over anything and falling because his eyes were closed.
"I have sensed the trajectory of Fate, though it's not yet clear, I feel it. It might be the opportunity to advance to Sequence 3, and it's getting closer."
Destiny explained the reason for his visit, his tone gradually becoming excited.
Leyton pulled a chair over to him, asking curiously:
"Today?"
Destiny shook his head and replied:
"No, I don't know, perhaps not, but I have made all preparations. All that's left is this final opportunity."
After closing the main door, Klein also walked over, asking with some curiosity:
"What opportunity? The advancement ritual?"
Destiny nodded, then shook his head again. After a brief silence, he said:
"Sequence 3 of the Fate pathway is called Chaoswalker. The opportunity I need is both the best time for me to consume the potion and advance, and also a ritual."
Leyton raised an eyebrow, not very surprised, and said:
"When you find this opportunity, the ritual will naturally begin or appear?"
"Yes," Destiny nodded in response.
Klein, who had been listening nearby, pondered for a moment, then said with emotion:
"Advancement in the Fate pathway relies entirely on luck, right?"
"You could say that," Destiny nodded in agreement.
Leyton sat leaning against the dining table, wondering why Destiny could sense his advancement opportunity now. Leyton had initially thought his advancement would have to wait until the Great Smog event.
Doesn't the Chaoswalker advancement require a large-scale chaos as an opportunity?
He thought for a long time but couldn't come to a conclusion.
Leyton simply got up and said to Klein:
"What are you planning to do today? I'll follow you."
Klein looked at Leyton, then at Destiny beside him. He felt that today he was going to be a trio.
After a moment of hesitation, Klein still stated his original plan for the day:
"I plan to go to the Quelaag Club this morning."
Leyton nodded slightly, while pondering whether his premonition pointed to Will.
Upon arriving at the Quelaag Club with Klein, thanks to the money and Destiny's luck, Leyton and Destiny quickly became new members of the club.
Klein chatted with his friends at the club for a while before heading to the shooting range to practice.
Leyton and Destiny each got a cup of coffee, found a seat, and quietly waited for things to unfold.
Quietly waiting was not Leyton's personality. After sitting for a long time, Leyton felt bored.
Destiny seemed to be accustomed to this state of quietly waiting for things to arrive, sitting very calmly on the sofa. Leyton even thought he might have fallen asleep with his eyes closed.
Tapping the empty coffee cup twice, Leyton sighed:
"If I had known it would be this boring, I would have brought two books to read."
"If you want to read, perhaps you should go to the Library."
A middle-aged man with a cane, passing by, heard Leyton's words and paused, smiling as he joined the conversation.
Leyton turned his head to look, a faint purple glow flashing in his eyes unintentionally, but it was just a fleeting glimpse and didn't attract the attention of the middle-aged man opposite him.
Although he didn't see anything unusual about the other party, Leyton still invited him to sit down and chat for a while:
"There don't seem to be many seats left around. If you don't mind, you can sit here. No one is talking to me, and I'm a bit bored."
"Haha! I used to think that people who like to read would enjoy quiet and solitude. It seems you're not like that."
The middle-aged man replied, then leaned his cane against the sofa, seemingly not wanting to walk a few more steps with it.
Leyton smiled and responded:
"I only like quiet when I'm immersed in books. The rest of the time, I prefer a bit more liveliness."
Destiny, who had been sitting quietly on the sofa with his eyes closed, lost in thought, had turned his head at some point. Although his eyes were still closed, Leyton felt that he could see even with his eyes shut now.
He watched the middle-aged man sitting on the other side of the sofa with closed eyes, and after a long while, he spoke:
"Sir, your luck doesn't seem very good lately?"
Leyton looked at Destiny, then at the middle-aged man he had invited. Leyton was almost certain of the other party's identity.
Dr. Aaron Ceres, the father Will chose for his future restart.
Allen hesitated, glancing at Destiny, who had his eyes closed the entire time. He had previously thought the old gentleman was asleep on the sofa.
Leyton spoke up to vouch for Destiny:
"You can trust Old Mister Destiny's judgment. He has an extraordinary understanding of Fate."
"Is that so?" Dr. Aaron still had obvious hesitation in his eyes, but after struggling with himself for a long time, he decided to trust the other party for now.
Anyway, he was already so unlucky; he couldn't possibly be scammed again!
"I've been unlucky for a long time."
Dr. Aaron rubbed his forehead and responded, then hesitated again and asked:
"Old Mister Destiny, do you have any insights on this?"
Leyton also looked at Destiny curiously, eager to see what kind of explanation he would give.
"This is a transaction. The fluctuations of Fate are normal. When your luck drops to a certain level, it will recover again, and it will become even better."
"Transaction?" Leyton murmured, already guessing that Will, who was being pursued too closely by Ouroboros, was preparing for a restart.
"This?"
Dr. Aaron shook his head with some disappointment. He had thought this old gentleman would say something to enlighten him, but it was just reassurance.
Leyton stared at Destiny. Since he had seen the transaction, he should know more, but he showed no indication of it.
After a slight hesitation, Leyton still asked:
"Old Mister Destiny, don't you want to meet your former Speaker?"
"I have already withdrawn from the Life School of Thought, and I don't wish to participate in the struggle for the Wheel of Fortune. I came to Backlund solely for that one opportunity."
Destiny shook his head slightly, his attitude very clear.
