Not long after Leyton and Hanged Man Alger concluded a transaction outside, Mr. The Fool, who was seated at the head of the table, lightly tapped the bronze long table, signaling the end of Miss Justice and Mr. World's private discussion.
Then, Mr. World, controlled by Klein, spoke again:
"I have another question."
"I want to know if the Sauron Family of Intis still has high-Sequence Beyonders."
Leyton was slightly curious, not understanding why Klein needed information about the Sauron Family. After a brief thought, he realized he didn't know if the Sauron Family still had Angels, but it was highly probable they did.
He slightly raised his hand, preparing to answer Mr. World's question, but then heard the light tapping sound from the head of the bronze long table.
"I will answer this question. What reward can you offer?"
Mr. World, controlled by Klein, immediately responded:
"A formula, a Sequence 7 formula."
"Alright." Klein, shrouded in Gray Fog, replied.
He then created an environment for himself and his alternate account to interact privately.
Leyton, sitting in his seat, raised an eyebrow slightly. His left hand, which he had prepared to raise, naturally shifted to support his body as he changed his posture in the chair, quietly watching Klein perform his self-questioning and self-answering act.
After a period of time, after Klein finished his private interaction, he controlled Mr. World to stand up and bow:
"Respected Mr. The Fool, thank you very much for your answer. It was very helpful to me."
"This is an equivalent exchange, no thanks are needed." Klein responded with his main account.
Leyton was very interested in this scene, watching the play with great relish.
"I must say, Beyonders of the Seer Pathway truly have a talent for acting. One could even say, each of them is a performing troupe on their own."
Leyton maintained his composure on the surface, while inwardly grumbling about every high-Sequence Diviner.
Afterward, Klein controlled his alternate account, Mr. World, to converse with everyone for a few more minutes, and then the Tarot Club concluded.
Back in his study, Leyton still savored Klein's performance above the Gray Fog, feeling a lingering sense of enjoyment. He sighed with emotion and said:
"Some people are truly born Seers!"
Afterward, he summoned his messenger and wrote letters to Mr. Hughes and Cattleya on the Future, asking if they knew the Wind-Blessed potion formula of the Sailor Pathway.
Because he frequently corresponded with Frank, the messenger had already memorized Frank's aura. As long as the Future hadn't sailed too far in a short period, the messenger could find the ship.
After writing the letters, Leyton found a map of Backlund, preparing to visit a new graveyard tonight and take Crow Anu to act as a Gravedigger.
Through this period of experimentation, Leyton had already summarized the Gravedigger's acting principles:
A Gravedigger is not merely digging up or even destroying graves, but rather someone who brings peace to the deceased.
The usual practice is to give the deceased a baptism and then bring their body to the graveyard for burial.
His initial actions of taking Crow Anu to the graveyard to awaken Zombies and destroy graves were completely contrary to the Gravedigger's acting.
The true acting of a Gravedigger should be to give solace to bodies that have died but have not been handled, and then bring them to a graveyard for burial.
This is a further step in the acting of the previous Sequence, Corpse Collector.
Taking advantage of the fact that it was still afternoon, Leyton took Crow Anu directly out the door and headed towards the East Borough and Backlund Bridge Area. These two places are where the lower-class poor congregate, with many homeless people and beggars.
Many people die here every day, and many new people join their ranks.
Leyton walked with Crow Anu through the streets of the East Borough, his Eyes of Mystery Prying observing everyone around him, seeing their weak lives, like candles in the wind. He marked every unnamed person who was about to die or had already died, waiting for the right moment to collect their bodies.
"I actually find this way of acting very reasonable, instead of lamenting how cruel this world is."
Leyton murmured to himself, a hint of self-mockery in his voice.
"Boss, Death is the final destination for all living beings. We bring them peace after Death."
Crow Anu stood on Leyton's shoulder, leaning its head close to Leyton's ear and whispering.
"Death is the final destination for all living beings!"
Leyton, as if sensing something, turned his head to glance at the crow on his shoulder. At this moment, he truly felt that this crow possessed an extraordinary talent on the Death Pathway.
"Their suffering wasn't brought by me. On the contrary, I granted them their final peace." Leyton rationalized to himself.
After wandering around the East Borough and Backlund Bridge Area, dusk had fallen.
Leyton helped Crow Anu discreetly take away the homeless people who had become corpses. He used Spirit World travel to bring the bodies to Oston graveyard in the southern suburbs.
This place was managed by the Church of the God of Steam and Machinery. Leyton felt that perhaps a graveyard managed by a Church would be a better choice for the deceased. So, he chose a graveyard managed by the Church of the God of Steam and Machinery, with whom he was destined to interact in the Future.
As Leyton's figure, dragging two corpses, stepped out of the Spirit World, he saw Klein staring at him in astonishment.
After a slight stunned, Leyton offered an awkward but polite smile and greeted him:
"Good evening, Detective, are you here to bury someone too?"
Klein's gaze shifted back and forth between Leyton and the two corpses he was dragging. After confirming that Al was not murdering and disposing of bodies, he responded with an embarrassed smile:
"Good evening, Al, I'm here to dig graves."
"Digging graves? You have that hobby? Your Diviner hobbies are truly unique."
"However, could you please not dig up the graves I buried? These are for my crow to act as a Gravedigger."
Leyton didn't quite understand Klein's actions of coming to a graveyard in the middle of the night to dig graves, but he still explained the reason for his burials to the other party, to avoid having his buried bodies dug up. If that happened, it would be bad for his acting.
"Uh, okay."
"I'm just here to test a Mystical Item related to the Death domain! Don't overthink it."
Klein explained further, feeling that his previous words might lead to other interpretations.
"Hmm, are you in a hurry to test your Mystical Item now? If not, could you help me watch these two bodies? I still need to go back and drag other bodies over."
Leyton said, and without waiting for Klein's response, he put down the bodies he was dragging, turned, and stepped into the Spirit World.
Klein looked at Al, who had disappeared, and the two additional bodies on the ground, feeling a bit speechless for a moment.
He sighed helplessly, leaning against a nearby tree that shielded the graves from sun and rain, waiting for Al to return in the cold and eerie night.
As it turned out, Al went back and forth five or six times, bringing a total of ten bodies.
Klein stared blankly at the pile of homeless corpses. If his Spirit Vision hadn't confirmed that these homeless people had all died naturally, he would have suspected Al of secretly killing Backlund's homeless to help his crow act.
"Alright, Anu, go prepare. First, use a ritual to pacify these deceased, then dig pits and bury them. No more Zombies this time."
Leyton instructed Crow Anu, who was standing on a nearby tombstone.
Then he walked over to Klein, and the two stood side by side, watching Crow Anu pacify and bury these homeless bodies.
"Where did you find so many homeless bodies?"
Klein asked the question that was on his mind.
"East Borough, Backlund Bridge Area. Many people die in these two places every day. I just brought out a few inconspicuous bodies."
"Even the most prosperous City has its dark corners, and Backlund in this era is especially so."
Leyton explained the source of the bodies, then sighed with emotion.
"This era?"
Klein didn't quite understand.
"This is the best of times, it is the worst of times."
Leyton said, offering no further explanation.
Crow Anu had already performed the ritual to pacify these bodies.
Then, using the spell Leyton taught it, it scattered iron-black powder and summoned invisible giant hands to dig ten grave pits in the graveyard. It then placed the bodies one by one and covered them with soil.
Finally, Leyton found some stones, made them into tombstones, and placed them in front of the grave pits.
On each tombstone, he left an epitaph for the nameless:
I don't know which Star in the sky will be me
Kind passerby, you can send me a flower.
"Do you want to write a line?"
Leyton turned his head and asked Klein, who was watching beside him.
"Me?" Klein hesitated for a moment, then wrote a short phrase on the last tombstone:
I once came to this world
"Caw~ Boss, my potion has digested a lot! I feel like two or three more times like this and I'll completely digest the potion!"
Crow Anu excitedly flapped its wings, tumbling in the air.
"It seems the acting principles summarized this time are correct."
Leyton nodded, not too surprised.
"It's your turn to test your Mystical Item. Do you need me to leave with the crow first?"
Leyton turned to ask Klein beside him.
"No need." Klein shook his head gently; he still had that much trust.
In front of Leyton, Klein took out an exquisite, antique bronze whistle, covered with many peculiar patterns that gave it a mysterious charm.
He walked away from the area where the homeless bodies had just been buried, repeatedly tossing the bronze whistle into the air.
He repeated this many times, stopping only after confirming there were no signs of reanimation around. Then he called out to Leyton, who was standing in the distance:
"It's done. Let's come back in a few days to see if there are any additional changes."
