Kiara's mouth dropped at those words. She stared at him for a few seconds, unable to find the right words to respond.
"Don't be surprised, my love," Marcus continued. "I know you have long wished for a day like this to come, especially during your time in the Nightshade pack, but unforeseen circumstances got in the way."
He held her hand and cupped her cheeks upon realizing how emotional she felt.
"That's why I organized this royal lunch, so you could feel like the queen you truly are," he declared, leaning closer to kiss her, but Nina shoved him away.
"I'm still trying to understand what you're getting at. Are you saying that..."
Marcus interrupted her with a playful smile and said, "Do you think I would spend so much money just for the two of us to have this place to ourselves all day without thinking of how to make it more meaningful?" He asked.
Nina said nothing but continued to gaze at him, her expression laced with surprise and a mix of doubt.
