Chapter 379 - So That the Incident Never Occurred

Later, as Licht went to the ship, Licht knocked on Iris's door.

Iris said, "Iris isn't here."

Licht said, "I know you are there. And Olivia is no more. We recovered them. Olivia was gone by the time we got there, and reports show she was deflowered as well. And today was our match against the Baladian forces. We got back everything we have. The Baladian team—Liebe and I made sure they get what they deserve. And tomorrow is the funeral. It will be at the Eldorian capital. And since she served under me, which is under Liebe and directly Black Rose, her funeral will be treated as a funeral of a Black Rose member. And in order to show her dedication, she will also be treated as an Arc Luatine. Both forces will be at the service ceremony, including your mother and Olivia's parents, as well as the current captains and myself. You should be there as her friend. It's probably the last time you get to see her."

As Iris opened the door, Iris cried and said, "Licht, why? Why did she have to go like this? That day, it was supposed to be me, yet she went in my stead and died."

Licht said, "I have her last words, in case you wanted to know."

Iris said, "Just tell me. Why? Why did she have to die? Why did Liebe abandon us? Why wasn't he there when we were being shot at? He was supposed to protect us. The great Faust, the Fleet Admiral, was supposed to protect us."

Licht said, "No. It's all my fault. He wanted to be there that day, but he trusted me. There was something that required his attention. And we were saved because of Liebe. That darkness was Liebe. And the fact that Liebe had to even show up was my failure. And I regret it. I should have been better and done whatever was necessary to prevent being split up. I should have been better."

Iris said, "And now it's because of you Olivia died. How many more before you and Liebe reach your goal?"

Licht said, "I don't know. Dozens, hundreds, maybe thousands. Liebe and I made a deal. We won't stop till we achieve our goals. People die. That's unavoidable. And that is the harsh reality."

Iris said, "How many have died so far?"

Licht said, "I don't know. And I have to go. Just remember this: Olivia's last words were, 'You bastards won't escape. You messed with the right hand of the most future strongest captain in Eldoria, the one who will change Eldoria for the future and the future Chief Justice of Eldoria. They won't let you escape.'"

Iris said, "Did she really say that?"

Licht said, "Ask Elizabeth." As he left.

As he met up with Liebe:

Liebe said, "This is Drant Volcano Luxzia, the sacred volcano of the people."

Mia said, "We are 30 km away, yet I can feel the heat from here. How are we supposed to—"

Licht said, "Us, not we. You are staying here. It's far too dangerous."

Mia said, "But sir, how are you supposed to go in?"

Licht said, "I'm capable of this. Light Magic: Saint's Sanctuary!" As a crystal formed around Liebe and Licht, they went down under the lava.

There was a cavern. There were hundreds of obsidian golems—more than a thousand.

Licht said, "I will deal with these."

Liebe said, "Fine then."

Licht said, "Light Magic: Saint's Charge!" As he charged through the enemy, he screamed, "We will get Lucifer's relic!" Licht kept on fighting despite being surrounded.

Liebe said, "This BS is far too annoying."

Licht said, "I don't have time, and you don't have sufficient strength to end this battle. You have wasted far too much magic in the past few days. There are too many."

Licht said, "I can do it."

And no matter what Licht did, Licht said, "I did it. Those golems were strong, but I won."

Liebe said, "Let's proceed."

As they went in deeper, they found the relic—a pendant on a podium. As they took it, they left.

While outside:

Liebe said, "We have all we need to heal Alysa, Elizabeth, and Horn physically and mentally."

Licht said, "How?"

Liebe said, "The Devil Binding Ritual. It can be done."

Licht said, "I want to know how."

Liebe said, "That's for me to know. You don't need to bother with it."

Licht said, "I want to know. I know you are our leader, and I have no reason to doubt you. You always held our interests above all. But right now, every instinct in my body is telling me to know how. How are you planning to do it? Every fiber of my being is telling me to stop you no matter what. Just tell me."

Liebe said, "Fine. I plan to use the bangles to summon the Time Devil, Chronos—the Supreme Devil of the 2nd Underworld Floor—and sacrifice 2 of the Team Baledia members to attain the Eyes of Sin and the Eyes of Purity. And then use my future sight. Afterwards, I will make a deal with the Body Devil, the Supreme Devil of the 19th Floor, to help regrow her arm. And then use Morvath's power to change her memories—everyone's—so that the incident never occurred. It will be a spell on a global scale, so no one in the world will know."

Licht said, "I see. Is that all? Then why the hell do you need Lucifer's relic? Answer me."

Liebe said, "I will make a deal with Lucifer for his power so that Alysa can be stronger to defend herself. Yet it will require sacrifices, which can be easily done."

Licht said, "What do you mean? What will the memory spell even do? What are you saying?"

Liebe said, "The memory spell will alter the memories of everyone in the world. It will be as if history changed. The change will be: Alysa Bouduin never had Love Magic. She has Gravity Magic. She never came to Eldoria. And she never met or fell in love with Liebe Faust. The spell will alter the memories of everyone in the world who were involved in our lives, and will be altered to suit that truth—that new history. A history revolving around her being a godkin, where she will be safe forever, far from us, and lead a life where I won't ruin it."

Licht said, "Is that it?"

Liebe said, "Yes, it is."

Licht said, "Liebe, I know you are the captain, and you have the right to decide who stays and who leaves. But—" As he drew his blade towards Liebe, he said, "Liebe, I challenge you to a duel for Alysa. I can't allow you to send her away for my faults. I can't live with myself."

Liebe said, "You won't have to. Your memories will also be altered. It will be as if you never met her."

Licht said, "Liebe, I challenge you to revoke your decision in the matter, even if it means I have to lose my place as the Vice Captain."

Liebe said, "Fine then. I accept."

Mia said, "But sirs, please, this isn't the place. And Admiral Licht is already out of mana."

Liebe said, "No, Mia. A man has to do what a man has to do. The terms are simple: a 1v1 duel till defeat. No mana. Just blades."

Licht said, "I accept."
