After breakfast, Licht said, "What are your plans for today?"
Liebe said, "First I have to get ready and then apologize to Mr. Otiz since I missed my match yesterday."
Licht said, "I wouldn't recommend that. You still aren't at full power, and if you take the test now you might fail because of your weakness."
Liebe said, "It's something I have to take care of—my pride."
Licht said, "If you die, it will all be for nothing."
Liebe said, "My death is worth less than the fall of the House of Faust."
Licht said, "Oh well. But I will observe regardless, since the test is a 1 v 5. Every winner has to fight five of the ones who lost, and among the five is one who lost in the previous 1 v 1 match."
Liebe said, "Interesting. I might just enjoy this."
Licht said, "Okay then, fine — but if things get too tough and you might die, I will intervene."
Liebe said, "Fine with me."
Licht asked, "But why exactly are you so interested in this competition?"
Liebe said, "My actual interest isn't the competition but the names."
Licht said, "And what names might those be?"
Liebe said, "Hearing that Iris Solace, Hedin, and M Grinberryal made it to the next round — who can I possibly stay away from?"
Licht said, "I understand Iris, but what's so special about M and Hedin that interests you?"
Liebe said, "Do you know the name Mavia? It feels familiar but I can't pinpoint it."
Liebe said, "Let's get going; otherwise we might be late."
Licht said, "But it's Sunday — can't we do it later?"
Liebe said, "Don't worry. It'll be done in an hour and then you can sleep for the whole day."
Licht said, "Okay then, fine. Let's fly. Get ready in five minutes and return in sixty minutes, then take a nice ten-hour nap."
Liebe said, "I'm ready — let's go."
Licht said, "Fine."
They took flight for Galahad Island. After arriving on campus, they went to the teachers' reception on floors 45–47. Liebe knocked on the door and a voice said, "Come in."
Liebe asked, "Is Mr. Otiz here?"
The receptionist said, "Yes. Mr. Otiz is currently present. Your name and ID, please."
Liebe said, "Liebe. ID 001040."
Licht said, "Licht. ID 001042."
The receptionist said, "Okay, please sit down. I will inform Mr. Otiz that you have arrived."
Liebe said, "Thank you, sir/ma'am."
The receptionist replied, "Liebe and Licht — Mr. Otiz has asked you to come into his office, Room No. 306."
Liebe said, "Thank you," and they walked to Room 306.
Liebe knocked and entered.
Otiz said, "You wanted to talk?"
Liebe said, "I'm sorry, sir. I couldn't make it."
Otiz said, "It's okay. Everyone gets cold feet when it's a 1 v 5 — even star players."
Liebe said, "Umm, sir, I was sick. I was vomiting all night and couldn't sleep."
Otiz said, "I'm quite sorry, but I doubt we can make an exception."
Liebe said, "If possible, I would like to take it today. It's okay if it's a 1 v 5, or a 1 v 10, or even a 1 v 15."
Otiz said, "Okay then, if you are so sure, let's see. It will be a 1 v 15, but all of them will be from the previous round."
Liebe said, "Okay then."
Licht whispered to Liebe, "You dumbass — do you actually think before you speak?"
Liebe whispered back, "No, not really."
Otiz said, "You have 15 minutes to prepare mentally. The others will be here by then. Don't die out there."
Liebe said, "Understood, sir."
