Washington D.C.

President Dennis sat in the situation room staring at the feeds from New York, and his face looked like he'd been chewing glass. The Chitauri just kept pouring through that portal—now there were these massive Leviathan things crawling all over the buildings like giant metal spiders. Their weapons were tearing through everything, and human firearms might as well have been BB guns.

Only bright spot was that Baymax had somehow seen this coming. Their evacuation system was actually working, getting people out of the city fast. And those mutants were helping too, which... honestly, he hadn't expected. But more aliens kept coming, and the whole situation was spiraling toward complete disaster.

"Mr. President," his aide said, hanging up the phone, "Defense Secretary and Joint Chiefs are both recommending nuclear strike on New York. Take out the portal."

"We can't nuke our own people," Dennis said, still watching footage of Baymax robots shielding civilians. "Look at them down there—they're still trying to save everyone."

"If we don't stop it here, we lose everything," the Joint Chiefs chairman said from the secure video link. Guy was calm as ice, like he was discussing the weather.

"It's the only option that makes sense," the Defense Secretary chimed in from another screen. "We know what it means, but we have to do it. The whole country's at risk. Maybe the world."

Dennis stared at the screens showing mutants escorting civilians like they were just ordinary rescue workers, Baymax robots throwing themselves into danger to protect people. Then something clicked.

"Wait," he said, eyes lighting up. "I think somebody might be able to close that thing."

"Who?" Both officials frowned. Avoiding nuclear options would be nice, but who the hell could seal a space portal?

"Aidan Parker. The kid who runs Baymax."

"Parker?" Defense Secretary looked like he'd bit into a lemon. "You want a terrorist to help us? What's he gonna do, release a virus in Manhattan?"

"Look at this." Dennis pulled up footage of the evacuation portals. "Their teleporters can move living people. They obviously know something about spatial technology. And he's not acting like a terrorist right now—his company's saving the city."

He leaned forward. "Nuclear strike is the last resort. We have to try everything else first."

The two officials exchanged looks, then nodded reluctantly. "Contact him fast. Hope he's got something." Truth was, nobody wanted to nuke New York—it was the financial heart of the country. And Baymax headquarters was right there in the blast zone anyway.

Stark Tower

Aidan was honestly surprised when the call came through. Didn't think they'd swallow their pride that fast.

"Yeah, I can handle it," he said, spinning the mind scepter in his hand like a baton.

"Really? How long do you need?" Dennis sounded like he'd just been told Christmas came early.

Made sense—if you're the president who nuked New York City, that's not exactly going in the history books as a highlight.

"Just got the key to the whole thing," Aidan said, nodding at the scepter. "I can do it right now. But I need you to sign something first."

An agreement popped up on Dennis's computer screen.

"Same stuff we talked about before, plus some paperwork for Dr. Banner," Aidan explained. Better to get them to agree willingly than force the issue later.

The aide skimmed it quickly. "It's fine, sir."

"Done." Dennis pressed his thumbprint to the digital signature. "I want to thank Baymax Corporation for everything they're doing down there. We'll hold a proper ceremony after this is over."

"The United States will continue to prosper under your leadership, and Baymax will always support you," came a perfectly diplomatic response in Aidan's voice.

Except Aidan hadn't said that.

"Oh, and one more thing," Aidan's actual voice cut in. "Stop screwing around with the T-virus. Something goes wrong with that, don't expect me to bail you out."

Given Marvel's track record with biological experiments, he really didn't want to know where that research would lead.

"I'll keep an eye on it," Dennis promised.

"Good. Time for the main event." Aidan hung up and opened a channel to Apex Island. "Hot Rod, want to come play?"

He aimed the screen at the sky where two more Leviathans were emerging from the portal.

"HELL YES! Chief, get us over there right now!" Hot Rod's voice was practically vibrating with excitement.

"Finally, some action! We've been sitting on this island so long I was starting to rust," Ironhide called out.

"Ratchet! Stop playing catch and gear up!" someone else shouted.

All the Transformers were crowding around the screen now, engines revving.

"White Queen, open the company teleporter for them," Aidan said.

"With pleasure," came the AI's response.

Aidan was just about to close the channel when he spotted something in the distance. Loki was on one of those Chitauri aircraft, adjusting what looked like some kind of projectile weapon.
