The mecha burst from the sand like

humanity's wet dream come to life.

Every person watching the broadcast felt their breath catch. This wasn't just some robot—this was the robot. Sleek, massive, and absolutely gorgeous in that brutal mechanical way that made your chest tight with excitement. The Wanderer stood there gleaming under the Egyptian sun, all sharp angles and perfect proportions, like someone had taken every cool mecha design ever and somehow made it better.

"Holy shit," someone whispered on the broadcast, and honestly? Fair.

The Wanderer straightened up slowly, almost casual about it, the huge cannon on its back catching the light. When it brought its fists together, the gesture somehow managed to be both badass and weirdly respectful. Sunlight wrapped around its frame like the thing was posing for the universe's most expensive photo shoot.

Then came the sound.

BANG!

Not just loud—felt. Like the desert itself was announcing that everything had just changed.

Inside the cockpit, Aidan was having the time of his life. The Wanderer's hands shot forward, and he could feel the air getting thick and heavy under those massive palms. A plasma chainsword erupted from the knuckles with this incredible deep hum that made his teeth ache in the best way.

Devastator was still digging at the pyramid like some kind of confused mechanical mole when the sword came down. The cut was so clean, so perfect, that for a second nothing happened. Then the giant Decepticon just... fell apart. Two halves tumbling down the pyramid like the world's most expensive dominoes.

"Man," Aidan muttered, grinning like an idiot. "If I'd had this thing in Pacific Rim, those kaiju would've been fucked."

Though, thinking about it, there was still Unicron sleeping under their feet. Earth's little secret that made even this monster mecha seem kinda small. But hey, one cosmic horror at a time.

Something was climbing his leg.

Aidan looked down to find The Fallen scuttling up the Wanderer's frame like some kind of angry metal spider, his scepter already punching through the armor. Cute.

"Seriously?" Aidan reached down to flick the ancient Decepticon off, but The Fallen moved like liquid smoke, slipping around his fingers and heading straight for the chest-mounted cockpit.

Time for some fun.

"You think I'm just a big, dumb robot?" Aidan's voice carried enough amusement to make it insulting. His fingers danced over the controls, and suddenly the entire mecha started vibrating.

The surface temperature spiked fast enough to turn sand into glass, and Aidan gave The Fallen a casual kick that sent him flying. Where the ancient Decepticon hit the ground, the sand crystallized into these weirdly beautiful formations.

"Can't have you running off now," Aidan said, swapping the sword for his pulse cannon. The targeting system locked on with a satisfied little beep.

The plasma blast turned the world electric blue for a split second. Sand exploded everywhere, creating this massive crater that looked like someone had just moved a mountain. When the dust settled, The Fallen was still twitching, but barely.

Aidan walked over—each step making the ground shake like a minor earthquake—and carefully picked up the broken Decepticon. Had to be gentle with the merchandise.

Everyone was watching now. Autobots, Decepticons, humans with their phones out probably posting this shit to social media. As Aidan brought The Fallen close to the Wanderer's chest, black energy started seeping out like smoke from a dying fire.

The Spark. A piece of the AllSpark's original power, drifting into the Wanderer's core like it belonged there.

The moment it was absorbed, every warning system Aidan had started screaming. His fist snapped up just in time to catch an energy beam that would've taken his head clean off. The impact shattered his shield but left him grinning.

"Lockdown, you sneaky bastard."

The bounty hunter's ship was already banking hard, trying to run after his failed ambush. From this height, it looked like a particularly aggressive bird.

"Nah, I don't think so." Aidan triggered the shoulder launcher, and an electromagnetic net shot out with this incredibly satisfying thwump sound, like opening the world's biggest champagne bottle.

Lockdown's engines screamed as he tried to escape, but the AllSpark's power was absolute. The ship bucked and thrashed before finally giving up, and Aidan reeled it in like he was fishing.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Joshua Joyce's voice crackled over the broadcast, barely containing his excitement, "the Wanderer features electromagnetic capture systems, high-frequency resonance heating, and enough firepower to level a city. This is humanity's guardian angel, brought to you by KSI!"

Around the world, humans went absolutely insane with joy. The fear was gone, replaced by something much more dangerous: hope. And for some people, the kind of worship usually reserved for gods.

The Wanderer slung its cannon over its shoulder and sat down on the pyramid like it owned the place. The ancient stones groaned but held—even they knew better than to mess with this thing.

"Megatron." Aidan didn't even bother looking at the Decepticon leader. "I know what you're thinking, and honestly? I don't care. Call your boys. All of them. Now."

Joshua cut the live feed and immediately started working the phones. Three years of development, enough money to buy a small country, and that was before factoring in the AllSpark energy costs. Time to make some of that back.

Under Megatron's reluctant command, Decepticons started creeping out of hiding. Some swaggered, most looked terrified. Hard to blame them—The Fallen was supposedly invincible, and he'd just become spare parts.

The Autobots followed at a distance, weapons down but ready. With the Decepticons looking like kicked puppies, there wasn't much point in fighting.

Eventually, everyone gathered around the pyramid. Three groups keeping to themselves: humans with their cameras, Autobots scanning for threats, and Decepticons wondering how their day had gone so wrong. Bumblebee kept looking around frantically, but there was no sign of Optimus Prime anywhere.

When the crowd was complete, the Wanderer stood up and walked to where two massive footprints marked the sand. It knelt down, huge hand disappearing into the desert, and when it came back up...

Optimus Prime. Red and blue armor scorched and lifeless, optics dark.

Bumblebee rushed forward with this heartbreaking electronic wail, but the military held him back. Fair enough—they'd just learned the giant robot was on their side.

The Wanderer stood there holding the greatest Autobot leader like a mourner at a funeral, while the desert wind whispered across the silent battlefield.
