AYLA'S POV
The cage closed around us with a sound like bone snapping.
Black roots coiled into bars, dripping with frost and smoke. They pulsed with Veylor's heartbeat, and each throb sent a shiver of cold through my veins. My wolf bristled, snapping at the edges of the cage, but the air itself pressed down on me.
"Little Luna…"
The voice rippled through my bones. Not in my head—through my body, curling along the bond. My knees wobbled, and Kael's arms locked around me, his heat searing against the creeping frost.
He's trying to split us, Kael growled through the tether, his golden eyes sharp and furious. "Don't let go of me."
"I won't," I whispered, clutching his forearm as silver fire flickered faintly along my skin. But the cold was thick, pressing against the bond, as if invisible claws were prying at the threads that tied me to him.
