KAEL'S POV
Blood in the Pines. The mountains whispered of war. The wings echoes of sorrow and agony, every skin it touches feels its bad energy.
Snow crunched under the paws of a dozen wolves as we cut through the Frostfang pines, moonlight glinting off fur and steel. My black wolf led the charge, breath steaming in the freezing air, the bond pulsing hot and steady in my chest.
Ayla ran behind me in human form, silver runes faintly glowing along her arms, her wolf just under her skin. Every pulse through the tether was fire, her presence the anchor in my chest I would kill to protect.
Tonight, we weren't defending.
Tonight, we were hunting.
Tonight we will be brutal to all danger to all circumstances that have been on our neck, and never let go of any bad egg we come in contact with, tonight.
