Russell pressed the black hole firmly against Galactus, the singularity relentlessly eroding flesh and bone. His expression was filled with savage joy.
It had been a long time since he'd fought like this—truly unleashing himself without restraint.
Not even the Serpent had pushed him this far.
He laughed wildly, and golden chains erupted from his free hand, coiling tightly around Galactus, who was attempting to slip away through space.
"Run?"
"Did I say you could? And you still try to run?"
"Die!"
The instant the words left his mouth, the black hole in his grasp expanded, engulfing Galactus's entire head.
But then, dark psionic energy flared in Galactus's palm, countless motes of light flickering within it—like stars in the void.
It was the last reservoir of planetary energy stored within his body.
And then… it detonated.
Boom!
From a distance, it looked as if a fixed star in the universe had gone supernova. Terrifying blue energy erupted outward in all directions at a speed faster than light.
The dimensional space around them fractured, fine cracks splitting reality and releasing a suffocating aura of destruction.
The few survivors still capable of thought suddenly felt the certainty of their own deaths, their minds drowning in terror. Screams and chaos erupted.
And then, the unleashed energy collapsed inward.
A titanic vortex formed in the heart of the explosion—a vast maw, consuming everything in its reach.
The planetary energy from the detonation was drawn back into it.
Galactus's shattered body slowly reformed, piece by piece, until he stood once more in the vastness of the cosmos.
He gazed into the empty void before him and snarled.
"Damn dimensional Mephista… you've made me waste so much energy again."
Even though he could reclaim most of it, the self‑destruction had cost him dearly—nearly one‑tenth of his total power gone.
He would need to devour at least ten standard life‑bearing planets to recover.
Still, the enemy should be dead.
And the cerebrospinal fluid within the Celestial's head would replenish much of what he'd lost.
Galactus's gaze pierced reality. After several seconds, his eyes locked onto his prize. Without hesitation, he reached into the void and tore open space itself. The massive head of the Celestial was ripped from the mirror dimension and into open space.
"Top‑quality food…"
He swallowed hungrily, shrinking his colossal form to a more manageable size as he reached toward it.
But then… a faint voice echoed through the void.
"Are you so confident I'm dead?"
As the words fell, a wave of primal fear erupted in every living heart, coalescing in the void into the form of a man.
"This is impossible!"
Galactus roared in fury.
"I can feel that you're dead! You can't fool me!"
Russell casually twisted his neck.
"Ah, I was dead. But the taste of death…" He smirked. "…it's truly… wonderful."
"Thanks to you, I now have a deeper understanding of the power of death—and the power of fear."
Galactus refused to accept this, and the armor on his arm lit up with glowing lines before he hurled a devastating punch into the void.
"Heh~"
With a low chuckle, Russell instantly created two connected, perfectly formed wormholes.
Galactus's fist entered one wormhole—and shot out from the other, smashing straight into the left side of his own face!
Under the massive impact, his head twisted unnaturally before half of it exploded into fragments.
Galactus staggered back several steps, but even as he did, the destroyed half of his head regenerated completely.
Russell narrowed his eyes. Now he was certain—his guess had been right all along.
Galactus wasn't regenerating flesh and blood in the normal sense. This was a form of true immortality—a state where, under normal circumstances, killing him was impossible.
But that was under normal circumstances.
Hunger and rage pushed Galactus past reason. His voice was like a feral beast's roar.
"Go to hell! Go to hell! I want to see how many times you can come back!"
Once again, planetary psionic energy surged within him, cracks crawling across his colossal form before he detonated in another self‑destructive blast.
Russell didn't dodge—he simply sneered.
"Do you really think you killed me last time?"
"Idiot!"
In an instant, real space began folding in layers, each one imbued with different divine powers. Russell's figure and the void behind him overlapped into shifting shadows.
The self‑destruction's shockwaves shattered the layered dimensions one by one—but never reached the deepest truth.
More than ten seconds later, Galactus reformed again. This time, when he looked at Russell—completely unscathed—he froze.
The realization hit him hard: he couldn't kill this man.
Not only that—this was the most powerful single‑entity opponent he had ever faced.
Without hesitation, Galactus shrank his body down to barely ten meters and turned to rip open space, attempting to teleport back to his ship.
A cold laugh echoed through the void.
"You seem to have forgotten… between the two of us, who's the real master of space."
Black symbols suddenly appeared, radiating an eerie glow—power drawn from Xisong.
The very fabric of real space became unshakably solid. Galactus's space teleport failed.
He whipped his head back toward Russell.
"It's useless! I can't kill you, but you can't kill me either! As long as I'm not starving enough to fall below the level of a God‑Father entity, I will remain immortal!"
Russell's eyes suddenly blazed white.
"Immortal?" He smirked. "Guess why I could survive your self‑destruction—and still chose to 'embrace death'?"
As his voice fell, white wings unfurled from his back. One pair… two pairs… until eleven pairs of pure, radiant wings stretched out behind him.
In his hand, the Spear of Dead Thorns ignited with layers of burning white flame as he pointed it at Galactus.
"Immortal, are you?"
"The moment I saw my black hole swallow your flesh only for you to regenerate, I already knew what to do. I let you 'kill' me—so I could forge a revenge link!"
Boom!
A blazing white spear of light instantly bridged the distance between them, piercing through Galactus's hastily‑formed matter‑reconstruction shield and driving deep into his chest armor.
Galactus thrashed violently, then, in desperation, triggered yet another self‑destruction. He no longer cared how much damage it would cost him.
But it was too late.
Cracks split across his body, and surging white flames erupted from the wounds—flames steeped in pure destruction, far surpassing the vengeance angel from before.
"AHHHHH!!"
Galactus screamed in agony as his massive frame grew wildly in an instinctive attempt to resist.
It was useless.
Russell's spear grew with him, the cracks spreading proportionally and becoming impossible to heal.
Until at last—Galactus's entire body was engulfed in white fire… and detonated into nothing.
