Xiao Yan had no idea that the letter he had left behind had once again been misunderstood. After leaving the Miteer Auction House, he returned to the Magical Beast Mountain Range. At this moment, he was holding the map he had seized from Ye Xiaolian, comparing it to the surrounding terrain. The map was indeed quite detailed, but due to its age, many of the routes had changed slightly, making the search more troublesome than expected.
As he continued searching for the ancient beast den marked on the map, a furious lion's roar suddenly echoed across the distant sky. Xiao Yan looked up toward the source of the roar, and with the aid of his Heavenly Flame-tempered eyes, he could easily make out the situation.
There, a magic beast fully clad in purple crystal armor stood locked in a standoff with a graceful woman in plain white robes. Seeing this, Xiao Yan raised an eyebrow slightly. It seemed the intel Yafei had provided was accurate—Yun Yun had indeed come to the mountain range. Judging by the standoff, her opponent was likely a rank-six magical beast: the Purple Crystal Winged Lion King. But what was she doing with it? Was she after its Monster Core?
"Roar!" The lion king let out a furious bellow, violet flames rippling across its body—obviously a powerful form of beast fire. Faced with this, the woman in white dared not meet it head-on. From her battle aura, Xiao Yan could tell she cultivated wind-attribute Dou Qi, giving her greater speed than most of her peers.
Xiao Yan only watched the mid-air battle for a moment before losing interest and retracting his gaze. This level of fighting couldn't excite him anymore—especially not Yun Yun's performance. Honestly, it was so inefficient that if he were in her place, even at a slightly lower rank than the lion, he could have taken it down already.
After another clash, the two opponents retreated a fair distance from each other. Their Dou Qi surged—clearly, they were about to unleash their trump cards. Ultimately, Yun Yun managed to break the lion's hardest horn, but she also fell victim to the beast's sealing technique and was left critically injured.
And as fate would have it, she fell from the sky right in front of the map-tracing Xiao Yan.
Xiao Yan looked at the collapsed woman. Between the options of killing her for stew or robbing her first, he decided to loot her first and then maybe stew her later. Coincidentally, nearby was the small valley where he once practiced Flame Splitting Tsunami Ruler. With practiced ease, he hoisted Yun Yun over his shoulder like a sack and flew toward the valley.
Once there, he tossed her carelessly to the ground and gave her a once-over. The lion's final strike had been no joke—it had left this non-defensive Dou Huang grievously wounded. If it hadn't been for the tough inner armor she wore, she would've been gutted on the spot.
Seeing the state of her injuries, Xiao Yan frowned. His sharp eye could tell she'd bleed out if untreated. Naturally, he wouldn't let that happen—not out of kindness, but because she still had loot on her. So he moved quickly, stripping off her robes and removing her inner armor—not for treatment, but because the armor looked salvageable. A few repairs and it'd make a great gift for Xun'er or Xiao Yixian.
"Ugh…" Just as Xiao Yan removed the armor, Yun Yun stirred and slowly opened her eyes. She immediately realized her clothes had been stripped and shot Xiao Yan a glare of humiliation and fury. Xiao Yan only gave a dismissive snort.
"Relax. I'm a man of principle. I only rob for goods, not for lust. You've got nothing to worry about."
"You…!" Yun Yun's face flushed with a mix of shame and anger. She wanted to rise and slap him, but her body wouldn't budge. Worse, her Dou Qi was completely sealed. She recalled the Purple Crystal Winged Lion King's final move and muttered under her breath, "Damn it… I didn't expect it to know a sealing technique."
Not only was her Dou Qi sealed, but the wounds on her body throbbed painfully. She knew she wouldn't survive without treatment, but she couldn't move and had no choice but to plead for help.
"Do you have any healing medicine?"
"Of course I do," Xiao Yan replied nonchalantly, pocketing the inner armor.
"Then… could you apply some for me?" Yun Yun took a deep breath, suppressing her fury. As much as she wanted to punish this looter, she understood the danger of her condition and had to hold back.
"Why should I help you apply medicine?" Xiao Yan smirked.
"I… I can give you something in return." Yun Yun hesitated but quickly added her offer.
"If I save you, I'll only get whatever you offer. But if you die, everything on you becomes mine. Weigh the pros and cons—what do you think I'd choose?" Xiao Yan grinned. Truthfully, most of her belongings were junk to him, but his motto was never to let a plucked bird fly away. Even mosquito meat was still meat.
"Then… what do you want?" Yun Yun felt increasingly uneasy. She soon realized that in her current state, she was no different from a regular woman. If Xiao Yan had evil intentions, she wouldn't be able to resist at all.
"Don't overthink it. I'm not interested in you. Sure, I could make some coin selling you, but you seem to be someone important. I bet you can offer more than I'd get for turning you in. So… healing? Sure. All I need is a payment of one hundred."
"One hundred gold coins?" Yun Yun let out a breath of relief. That price wasn't too bad.
"What are you thinking? I meant one million."
"You're robbing me!" Yun Yun snapped. One million gold wasn't beyond her means, but spending that on a healing potion felt outrageously wasteful.
"Please, let's not use such ugly words. This is a fair and voluntary transaction," Xiao Yan chuckled. "Of course, you're also free to bleed to death."
