LOGAN'S POV.
Vera's claws hovered in the air, her expressions were sharp, dangerous, almost desperate. She didn't lower them until she spoke, her voice edged with urgency.
"But Logan," she said, her tone almost breaking, "we can't let her live… or even breathe another word. She'll run to her Alpha. She'll tell Alpha Leo that you killed a maid."
I turned to the crying servant, her body shaking like a trapped bird. Her wide eyes stared at me with terror, lips trembling as though she wanted to plead for her life but couldn't find the courage.
For a moment, my chest tightened. I had already destroyed one life tonight, cursed by these hands of mine. I couldn't stand to watch another life snuffed out before me…especially not this innocent girl's.
"No, Vera." My voice was firm, even though inside I felt torn. "You won't kill her. I won't let you."
