Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Respect

"Many people are ignorant of the true legend;" Minteh started talking to Chiko, stretching to reveal his complete form, "everyone says whatever they want and for so many years, the legend of the master protector has been a myth. But today, I think you are lucky to see the real power of the 'mythical master', if indeed you live to tell."

"I would be a bit lenient to you and not hurt you, because you have proved to be a worthy opponent, but your discipline and manners have betrayed you. I was chosen to protect this town!," Minteh continued.

"So, are you ready for a 'fair fight' as you wanted it to be?," Minteh asked, standing tall, towering over Chiko though he was at a distance.

"Don't let him kill you with his words and form; he is still a man!," Chiko encouraged himself.

"Do you think you're the only one with a 'strange and super hero' form?, Chiko asked Minteh, seemingly unfazed.

He then cast a spell and the talisman merged to form a big sword. Then the sword seemed to move and transform into a figure of a werewolf. The werewolf then merged with the man and Chiko started to change.

His change was so fearsome that his muscles became as of a muscular iron statue, yet his feet, palms and fingers changed to the form of werewolf's.

His short hair stood at his head and his ears seemed to lengthen a bit. His new figure seemed so sensitive that he could literally here the sound of the still air sweeping through the savannah grass where they were standing in.

"You forced me to use my trump card," Chiko roared to Minteh with a voice that ceased to be man's.

"Is that all you've got? I didn't know beings of your kind still existed. Nonetheless, I will have to put out for good!," Minteh said, obtaining a fight stand.

The two 'men' faced off in what could be called a fight of the generation. Unfortunately for the people of Mitete, no one had an idea of what was actually going on in the nearby jungle.

In the town, everything seemed running smoothly and normally as always. Some were partying, others sealing business deals, while others preparing to commit crimes as always, since it was nearing dawn.

In the hospital recovery room, Matt, Fatmah, Vanny and the visitors with whom Matt came, celebrations were going on.

"My darling," Matt called to Fatmah, "can't we go home and you heal from there? I want yo take care of you myself.

"Matt...," Vanny snapped, "she's here for only two days; be patient!"

"Alright...," he replied shamefully. "By the way, sweetie, what's his name?," Matt asked Fatmah, holding her hand passionately.

Looking deeply in his eyes, she replied him saying, "he shall be called Zee, Zee Liko."

"Ooh!," the two visitors wondered in unison. Then one of them said, "of course Liko, from the great Liko family. Will he also be a fighter and a tycoon like his predecessors?"

"Not here please, spare us with the fighting and business narratives! This is our family time!," Minteh snapped with a serious expression on his face.

"Aye daddy Zee," replied one of the men, with a chuckle.

Matt blushed and then he turned to his baby and said, to him, "you're a living legend, Zee!"

Back in the jungle, the two warriors faced each other with great determination, both looking to end the other for good.

Minteh let out a heaven shaking cry and leaped up, so high that he literally was at the same height as the tallest trees, and headed for his opponent's head.

Chiko, the half man half werewolf, on the other side roared with an earth shattering roar and also jumped forward to meet Minteh.

The two fighters met mid-air and the brawl started. The two seemed evenly matched. Minteh's literally moved in a blur and he relied so much on it and his skills.

Chiko on the other hand, was as hard as a steel plate and his blows were so fierce and strong. He leaned so much on his hard body and strong blows though also fast yet as Minteh's.

They leaned back and forth, attacking each with brute force. They knocked down the nearby trees and they didn't even flinch. Minteh took a deadly blow to the head but to Chiko's surprise, he looked like he had hit a sponge. All the force in his blow was absorbed in Minteh's body.

The greatest yet threatening surprise was, Chiko reached a point in the fight where he seemed to have the upper hand, but his blows seemed to make Minteh stronger. In fact, he looked, to Minteh, like he was playing.

"Noo, this was bad idea; I have to fight harder," Chiko thought, panicking. Then desperately, he broke one of his long hard claws, and tossed it at Minteh with such a force as of a fifty high-calibre rifle.

Minteh didn't see it coming and he was injured severely, on his left thigh.

He groaned in pain and in reaction, he clasped his hands together and retaliated with an angry deadly spell. This hit Chiko like a tornado and he went flying backwards a very great distance from where he was before.

Minteh removed the claw that had dug deeper into his flesh. It was so sharp that it caused another cut in his palm, yet not that deep.

"You have my respect! You're a worthy opponent! I give that to you; but you made a terrible mistake. So I will have to end you now," Minteh said, determined to end the fight.

He chanted a spell and two daggers were formed. At first they were very small and seemed harmless. Then they advanced in size as the light from them became of more intensity. The daggers transformed to long purple and black swords. They were called the soul killing and spirit slashing swords.

"You want to attack my souls? Don't you ever think about it, Minteh. If you do, I won't forgive you," Chiko threatened.

But dismissed the threat and focused his energy in the swords and when the light came to full intensity, he said, "soul killing and spirit slashing swords, go as one!"

Then panicking, Chiko muttered briefly and a steel shield formed before him. The swords collided with the shield to give a loud clinging sound. But after the impact, the swords seemed to harden more, until they were able to pierce through the steel shield.

Chiko looked with wide eyes as his strongest defense was being penetrated. The swords started to slash, with quick succession, at the wolf-man. He groaned in pain but couldn't do anything about it.

He let out a warrior cry and his three souls were exposed.

One of the them escaped and charged in Minteh's direction and exploded near him, with a blast of composite 4 (C4) bomb. To Chiko's surprise, the impact did nothing to Minteh, not even moving a single step back.

The other two souls were slayed at and Chiko cried the more. Both of them exploded, hurting him in the process. Chiko turned around to flee but it was a little bit too late.

"Where do you think you are going? Do you think you can run from me after injuring me?," Minteh called out.

He then cast a magic spell and the spirit slashing sword changed its course. It then charged at Chiko at the speed of a falcon. Chiko turned to see what was coming but it was a big mistake.

When he turned, the sword went through his chest, attacking his spirit, and destroying it on the spot.

Chiko was dead!!

His body lay numb and lifeless in the field.

"You have my respect, you were a worthy opponent!," Minteh said bowing down to the fallen warrior.

"Where is my son?," a voice groaned.

It was Lamech.
