Chapter 42 - Chapter 42 Returning Home

The next morning, in Seraphimon's guest quarters; the kids and their Digimon partners get out of their beds and exit the room.

"Let's go see Seraphimon." said Lincoln.

"Can't we go see Angewomon instead?" asked Rusty.

"As tempting as that is, we need to get back to our world and stop Titamon before he destroys everything and everyone we all love." said Clyde.

"I guess." said Rusty.

"Maybe Angewomon is with Seraphimon right now." suggested Zach.

"In that case, let's hurry and see." said Rusty as he picks up the pace with the other boys quickly following him as Stella does an eyeroll.

"Boys." said Stella before she and the Digimon run to catch up. In Seraphimon's chamber, he and Angewomon were looking at a back wall when they heard the group arriving.

"Good morning, children." said Seraphimon.

"Good morning, Seraphimon." said Lincoln before his and the other boys' eyes look towards Angewomon.

"Good morning, Angewomon." said Rusty with a goofy smile on his face.

"Good morning, children." Angewomon replied with a kind smile, making big blushes appear on the boys' faces. Seraphimon waves one of his hands, making a long table with a delicious-looking breakfast buffet on it appear out of nowhere.

"You should all eat before we send you back to your world, human children." said Seraphimon.

"So, you're gonna let us go through the rift?" asked Zach.

"Yes." replied Seraphimon. "We can't let Titamon roam freely in your world."

"Then let's hurry up and eat." said Agumon. The kids and their Digimon partners helped themselves to the pancakes, sausages, bacon, toast, variety of eggs, and orange juice; and ate their fill.

"It's been a while since we've had this kind of food." said Lincoln as he took a bite of toast that had some jelly on it.

"You said it, buddy." said Clyde as he takes a sip of orange juice. After the kids ate their fill and helped clean the table; Seraphimon looks at the back wall of his sanctuary and waves his hand, making several crystal pillars adorning it lower, revealing a hidden room that had a large glowing hole on the floor.

"Here is the rift." said Seraphimon.

"Yes!" said Zach.

"This should return you to your hometown, Royal Woods." said Seraphimon.

"How did you know the name of our hometown?" asked Stella.

"I read your journal while you all slept." replied Seraphimon. "I wanted to learn what you children have been through during your time in the Digital World, and I must say, you've all been throught quite an ordeal."

"Yeah, it was pretty rough." said Lincoln.

"And I was impressed with the illustrations in your journal as well, Lincoln." said Seraphimon. "Before you kids enter the rift, I must inform you that also while you slept, I added something to your artifacts."

"What?" asked Clyde.

"The ability to Digivolve your Digimon to their Mega Levels." replied Seraphimon.

"That sounds like something that will definitely come in handy against Titamon." said Rusty, looking at his artifact.

"Much obliged for doing that for us, Seraphimon." said Liam.

"Well, children; I think the time has come for you all to return to your world." said Seraphimon.

"Thank you, Seraphimon; we appreciate this." said Lincoln.

"Yeah; we all really missed our homes and families." said Stella.

"Have a safe journey, and remember, the fate of both worlds are in your hands." said Angewomon.

"Sounds like a mighty big load to put on us." replied Liam. Lincoln stepped towards the rift.

"Well, guys; let's go." said Lincoln. He, Clyde, Liam, and Zach, along with their Digimon run to the rift and jump into it; Rusty, however, was gawking at Angewomon.

"Come on, Rusty!" said Stella before she grabbed Rusty by the ear, pulls him towards the rift, and pushes him into it before before she jumps in herself.

"Good luck, children and partner Digimon." said Seraphimon. The kids and their Digimon were currently falling down a multicolored vortex with zeroes and ones around them; a bright light flashes and blinds them. Moments later, they open their eyes and found themselves back in Royal Woods.

"We're home, you guys!" said Lincoln. Rusty belly flops onto the ground and begins kissing it.

"Home sweet home." said Clyde.

"So, this is your home world, huh?" asked Agumon.

"Sure is." said Lincoln.

"Is it just me or is it too quiet here?" asked Zach.

"Yeah, look at this place; it looks deserted." said Liam.

"Where is everyone?" asked Stella. They suddenly noticed destruction around them.

"What happened here?" asked Gaomon.

"You think Titamon had something to do with it?" asked Kudamon.

"Who else?" asked Gotsumon.

"One of Lincoln's sisters might have thrown a really massive temper tantrum." suggested Rusty.

"Hoping that's the case." said Lincoln.

"I hope everyone's okay." said Lalamon.

"Let's check out our homes." said Lincoln. "We'll meet at Tall Timbers Park in one hour."

"Right." replied the others. They split up towards the directions of their homes. Twenty minutes later, Lincoln and Agumon arrived at the Loud residence.

"So, this is where you live, Lincoln?" asked Agumon.

"Yep." replied Lincoln. He then saw the front door was slightly opened. He runs to it, opens it, and he and Agumon went inside and see the living room look like it was ransacked.

"This doesn't look good." said Agumon.

"Actually, I've seen it look worse." said Lincoln.

"Is your family around?" asked Agumon

"Anyone here?!" Lincoln calls out. He got no response. He looks in every bedroom, the kitchen where he saw all the food was gone, the attic, the basement, Lisa's bunker, even the crawl space, but no sign of his family. "Where are they?"

"I don't know, Lincoln." replied Agumon.

"Come on, let's go meet with the others." said Lincoln. They run out of the house; half an hour later, they arrived at Tall Timbers Park where they saw their friends and their partners. "Did you find anyone?"

"No; my dads are not at home." said Clyde with worry in his eyes.

"My Mee-Maw and our farm animals are not at my family's farm either." said Liam.

"I didn't see my parents either." said Zach.

"I didn't see Dad or Rocky." said Rusty.

"Where could they all be?" asked Stella.

"Clyde; I think we should bring the others to our secret place." said Lincoln.

"Good idea." replied Clyde.

"Secret place?" asked Zach. Minutes later, the group and their Digimon were in a cave at Tall Timbers Park that had supplies in it.

"So, why do you two have this place?" asked Stella, looking around.

"In case of a zombie apocalypse." replied Lincoln as he grabs a radio and turns it on. He tries tuning it to several local stations until he gets something.

"Attention, Royal Woods." a voice Lincoln recognized says.

"That's Lisa!" said Lincoln.

"If anyone is still out there and haven't been captured by the mysterious creatures that suddenly appeared in our world; please report to the safe zone near the pond at Tall Timbers Park. Look for a blue domelike barrier." Lisa says before the message starts to repeat itself.

"It's a recording." said Zach.

"She must be busy helping with the barrier thing she mentioned." said Clyde.

"Let's head over there." said Rusty.

"Yeah, good thing Tall Timbers Pond is close by." said Liam.

"Our families might be there." said Stella.

"Okay, but let's be careful." said Lincoln. The group then exits the cave and start making their way to Tall Timbers Park; along the way, Rusty spots something familiar.

"It's a Vilemon!" said Rusty.

"Everyone hide!" said Lincoln as he hides in some nearby bushes, prompting the others to follow suit.

"Looks like Titamon wants to keep an eye out for more people." said Stella.

"What would he even want with them?" asked Liam.

"Experiments?" Zach replied.

"Don't even joke about that!" said Stella.

"I wasn't!" said Zach.

"Guys, keep it down." whispered Lincoln. "We don't want that Vilemon to hear us and investigate."

"Yeah, it's best if Titamon doesn't know we're here just yet." said Lincoln.

"But Seraphimon said he gave our artifacts the power to Digivolve our partners to their Mega Forms." said Rusty.

"Yeah, but we don't know if that's exactly how it works." said Lincoln. "Until we do, we don't want to lose the element of surprise."

"Good call, buddy." said Clyde.

"Who wants to shoot down that there Vilemon?" asked Liam.

"On it." said Kudamon as he looks at his target. "Holy Shot!" A beam of light comes out of his body and hits the Vilemon from behind, destroying it.

"Hopefully it didn't see us before it got blown to bits." said Lalamon.

"We should hurry and get to Tall Timbers Park." said Clyde.

"Let's go." said Lincoln as he and the others quietly sneak through the park's foliage.

Lincoln and his friends have returned to Royal Woods. Are their families and friends okay? Will they be able to stop Titamon? Wait and find out.
