Somewhere within the Warp…
"Let it go. You can't beat him."
The Phoenix King, Asuryan, chief deity of the Aeldari, was trying to console his younger brother—none other than the recently humiliated "Mini-Khorne," God of War, Khaine.
Orsaga had made his point clear: Khaine was no match for him.
Though vastly more powerful than any mortal, Khaine was still far beneath the level of a Chaos God.
Hearing his brother's advice only made Khaine more furious, but he had no way to respond.
The other Aeldari gods, witnessing the scene, also offered well-meaning words of comfort.
But Khaine—ever the hothead—didn't take it as concern. He saw it as mockery.
With a snort of rage, he turned on his heel and left.
The remaining gods exchanged glances and sighed in collective resignation.
Asuryan, helpless, could only shake his head and say:
"Let's turn our attention to something that actually matters—how we're going to deal with the fourth Chaos God, the Lord of Transcendence, and his Eldrazi horde…"
__
The Crimson Heaven.
As for what the Aeldari gods thought of him, Orsaga didn't particularly care.
Unlike the true Chaos Gods, who represented vast conceptual forces, the Warp was still littered with countless lesser beings who called themselves gods.
The Aeldari gods were just one example.
In truth, they were more akin to powerful lifeforms than actual deities—beings born from the collective emotions and psychic echoes of the Aeldari race, shaped by the raw power of the Warp.
They were resilient, yes—but they could be killed.
As for why Orsaga hadn't just finished Khaine off—instead settling for a broken leg—the reason was simple: Khorne.
What the Aeldari gods didn't realize was that they were, in a way, extensions of the Chaos Gods themselves.
Khorne, as a Chaos God, embodied the concepts of slaughter, war, valor, and victory—and all sub-concepts beneath that umbrella.
Khaine, the God of War for the Aeldari, was essentially a local expression of "War", limited to a single psychic-race branch.
His true origin? Undeniably rooted in Khorne.
So calling Khaine one of Khorne's subsidiary deities—or even his property—wouldn't be inaccurate.
Even if Khorne didn't care for him, and Khaine had no idea about this connection.
Ownership is ownership.
And given that Orsaga didn't currently feel like picking a fight with Khorne, he held back—crippling Khaine rather than killing him outright.
Had it been any other time?
Khaine wouldn't have gotten off with just a limp.
That was the lightest possible punishment.
After delivering his message, Orsaga clearly sensed Khorne's gaze passing through Khaine—staring at him briefly.
But Khorne did nothing.
Apparently, even Khorne couldn't be bothered to escalate over a single broken leg.
Poor Khaine—truly the unloved nephew of the pantheon.
---
Suddenly, Orsaga sensed something.
A powerful Warp entity—a Greater Daemon of unknown origin—was approaching the Solar System at high speed.
Judging by its trajectory, it was headed straight for Earth.
And under the terms of his Abyssal contract with Ra, that made it his problem.
Not one to waste time, Orsaga didn't overthink it.
Seated lazily on his throne, he casually flicked his fingers.
Instantly, a wave of power crossed the void and appeared near the incoming threat.
---
Within the Warp, near the Solar System…
A few years ago, during the infamous Event Horizon incident, Ra had casually destroyed a projection of a Greater Daemon of Khorne.
Now, that daemon had just finished regrouping—rallying his subordinates and heading straight back for Earth.
Getting killed in some backwater system?
Unacceptable.
Especially for a Greater Daemon of Khorne, whose personality was textbook:
short-tempered, bloodthirsty, and full of pride.
Now he was coming to settle the score.
But first—some context.
Warp Daemons are divided into various factions, each serving one of the main Chaos Gods:
Khorne, Nurgle, and Tzeentch.
Their origin lies directly in the will of the god they serve.
In the same way the Eldrazi are an extension of Orsaga, the daemons of the Warp are nothing less than limbs and appendages of their respective Chaos Gods—physical manifestations of divine power.
Because of their nature, they can only operate within the Warp unless certain conditions are met.
And even when they do manage to manifest in the Material Universe, their strength varies dramatically based on the activity level of the local Warp field.
When the Warp is highly active, even a low-tier daemon can rip apart stars with ease.
But when the Warp is dormant or quiet, even a Greater Daemon can be humiliated by mere mortals.
In other words:
The Warp's activity level is to daemons what internet speed is to a gamer.
When the connection's good? You dominate.
When it lags? You just stare at a frozen screen and cry.
Moreover, like the Eldrazi, Warp Daemons don't truly die.
Even if destroyed, most of the time only their projections or avatars are lost—akin to losing a secondary game account.
Their real bodies remain intact in the Warp.
Killing them does virtually nothing unless you're someone with high-tier authority or specialized powers.
Otherwise, they'll just come back—over and over.
Though technically, if a daemon dies too many times, their patron god might stop bothering to resurrect them.
That's as close to "permadeath" as they get.
Now, the Greater Daemon that Ra had slapped into oblivion last time?
He was coming back—with a whole army of Warp spawn behind him.
ETA: less than an hour before they reached the Solar System.
Currently, he was trying to brainstorm ways to coax mortals on Earth into summoning him.
Last time, his entry had been made possible by the Event Horizon, a spaceship that foolishly attempted faster-than-light travel—ripping into his domain in the Warp and giving him a shortcut into reality.
But now that the Event Horizon was gone?
He needed a new plan.
Without another medium or ritual, he couldn't cross over—he'd be stuck watching from the Warp.
Helpless.
And seething.
