Chapter 1 - News Article about Yug Bajaj

This story begins at the India News Agency in Mumbai,

where Mannat Agarwal had been working for almost a year.

On the other hand, news came that Yug Bajaj was going to arrive at the Blue Diamond Hotel today. But gathering news about Yug Bajaj was nearly impossible—no one had ever found solid proof about his personal life. Mannat and Naina were always on the move, chasing stories all day long.

Today, they heard Yug Bajaj would be showing up, so they might finally get something exclusive. If they could land a major story, it might also lead to a promotion—after all, it had been a year since they joined the agency.

Mannat walked over to Naina's desk and said,

"Listen, Naina. We have to cover a big story today. No one has ever managed to gather proper evidence about Yug Bajaj, but we won't give up. What do you say?"

Naina replied,

"Do you even know how big that hotel is? If they find out we're from the press, we won't even get inside. We're reporters—they'll throw us out like stray dogs. Let's not waste our time. We should go cover something else."

Mannat stared at her and said,

"Let's at least try once. If we can gather anything about his relationships, it could make a great headline—and maybe even earn us that promotion."

Naina snapped,

"Have you lost it? Messing with powerful people can get us fired. He's not some common man—he's a business tycoon. He'll have security alerts on us. You know how strict our boss is—he'd fire us immediately."

Mannat pleaded,

"Just once, Naina. If we don't get anything, then I promise I'll follow your lead next time. Seriously—cross my heart."

Rolling her eyes, Naina finally agreed,

"Fine. But only for half a day. If we get nothing, we're leaving to cover another story. Got it?"

Mannat grinned,

"Deal! Let's go, my love!"

And with that, the two grabbed their purses and phones and left.

Blue Diamond Hotel

Yug Bajaj and his family were already at the hotel. No one had noticed when they arrived.

Mannat and Naina made it into the hotel, but now they were confused—where should they check? Whom should they ask? The place seemed empty at that hour. They sat in the cafeteria waiting, hoping Yug Bajaj would appear.

Morning turned into afternoon, but there was no sign of anyone. Frustrated, Naina said,

"Let's just go. I doubt we'll find anything even if we sit here all day. At best, we can report how much the coffee and pasta cost here—500 for coffee, 800 for pasta. Might as well review the taste too!"

Mannat replied,

"Look, it's not my fault he didn't show up! If he had, we'd have gotten something. What can I do?"

Naina snapped,

"It is your fault! Everyone says getting info on him is impossible, but you never listen!"

Disheartened, Mannat said,

"Okay, sorry. Let's just go eat somewhere else. This hotel's too expensive anyway, and I'll pay the bill."

As they walked out of the hotel, Mannat suddenly remembered,

"Oh no! I forgot my camera!"

"Stop a taxi," she told Naina,

"I'll be back in two minutes!"

Mannat ran back inside to the cafeteria, but her camera was missing. She asked a waiter, who directed her to the reception desk.

At the desk, the receptionist handed her the camera.

"Thank you!" she said with relief.

As she turned to leave, a commotion outside caught her attention. People were being pushed aside by security—someone important was arriving.

Mannat thought, Could this be Yug Bajaj?

She followed the group discreetly, not wanting to reveal she was with the media. Using her cell phone instead of her camera, she followed them to the parking area.

Sure enough, it was Yug Bajaj, and he was standing beside a girl in a red short dress. They were talking—arguing, from their body language.

Mannat quickly snapped 2–3 photos. Yug's face was visible, but the girl's face was turned away.

Smiling to herself, Mannat whispered,

"At least the day wasn't wasted. This is my spicy story for the day!"

Back Outside

Naina scolded,

"Where the hell were you? What took you so long?"

But Mannat couldn't stop smiling.

Naina snapped again,

"Stop flashing your teeth! You're making me mad now!"

Mannat put a hand on her shoulder and said sweetly,

"I know a perfect way to cool your anger!"

The two headed to a nearby restaurant and had Chinese food.

Later, Mannat showed Naina the pictures. Naina was stunned,

"WOW! Mannat, you're a lioness, girl!"

Mannat, full of attitude, replied,

"You're just realizing that now? Never underestimate me!"

Both laughed out loud.

Back at the agency, they started working on the article. Most of the effort came from Mannat, who had to submit it by morning. She chose a bold headline with the photos:

"Yug Bajaj spotted with a mysterious girl — Is this his girlfriend? Wedding bells soon? When will they go public?"

Next Morning

News channels were buzzing:

"Who is the girl seen with Yug Bajaj? Is marriage on the cards?"

Every channel had their own spin. Question after question flooded the media.

Bajaj Mansion

The headlines blared on a large TV in the living area. Newspapers lay open on the table. Yug Bajaj sat on the sofa, legs crossed, reading India News. His expression was unreadable.

His assistant, Sera, came in with a bowed head.

"This article came from India News. It must have been a planted story—reporters were probably already at the hotel."

Without looking up, Yug folded the paper and said,

"Bring the owner of this news agency to the villa. I want to speak to them personally."

Sera nodded and left.

At that moment, a woman about 45 came downstairs—it was Meera Bajaj, Yug's mother.

She said,

"Son, the whole media is talking about you today!"

Yug stood up and said calmly,

"These are just rumors, Mom. I'll handle it."

Before he could leave, his grandmother appeared, walking with a cane.

"Handle it? Who's that girl with you? Do you like her? When will you take us to her house to talk about marriage?"

Yug was clearly irritated. Before he could respond, Meera said,

"Mom, it's Monica—Kavya's daughter's sister-in-law. The family was at the hotel yesterday too. I have no idea when or how this photo was taken."

Grandma said,

"Well, at least she's from our circle! Let's meet her properly. What do you say?"

What will Yug do now?

What will his next move be?
