Chapter 158 - Chapter 158: I Won’t Let This Go

On the other side—

Xu Xialing arrived in London with her subordinates from the Golden Dagger Club.

Upon arrival, she immediately scouted the transaction site and set up ambushes all around the area.

Even though she was the buyer and had no intention of betraying the deal, that didn't mean the seller didn't. Just in case, she had used her connections to arm her men with rifles and handguns. The only thing they lacked, due to time constraints, were bulletproof vests.

The sun had now completely set, and night enveloped the land.

Victor watched as Selene led a group of Death Dealers toward the transaction site. With a wave of his hand, he ordered, "The remaining Death Dealers, come with me."

"Tonight, we will wipe out the werewolves once and for all!"

Selene arrived at the designated location with her team, only to find Xu Xialing and her people already waiting.

As she stepped out of her vehicle in her sleek black leather outfit, Selene immediately used a power level detector to scan Xu Xialing. The reading appeared instantly.

To her surprise, Xu Xialing's power level was not inferior to her own.

On the other side, Xu Xialing also scanned Selene, and upon realizing her opponent's strength, she was glad she hadn't come alone—otherwise, she might've been in deep trouble.

"Did you bring the goods?"

Xu Xialing got straight to the point.

Selene pulled out a Dragon Ball and asked, "You really think $5 million is enough for a Dragon Ball?"

Seeing that she did indeed have one, Xu Xialing replied, "Come on, girl, trying to raise the price last minute isn't a good look."

Selene sneered. "Are you playing dumb, or do you seriously not know what the Dragon Balls are for?"

"If it's just $5 million, I'll double it and offer $10 million for the Dragon Ball you claim to have."

When Xu Xialing didn't immediately react, Selene added, "Wait… you don't actually have one, do you?"

She frowned slightly. Could this woman have heard rumors about the Dragon Balls and decided to jump in blindly?

To test her, Selene took out the coin Mr. X had given her—the token that granted entry into the competition—and held it up. "Do you know what this is?"

Xu Xialing examined the coin. Though it was dark, the nearby car headlights provided enough visibility.

"An Assassin Brotherhood coin?"

Although the symbols were different, she could still make out the Dragon Ball image on one side and the Assassin League insignia on the other.

Hearing her answer, Selene immediately put away the coin and the Dragon Ball. She now understood—this woman didn't even have a Dragon Ball, let alone a ticket to the competition.

Xu Xialing narrowed her eyes. "So you have no intention of completing the deal?"

"In that case, I'll just take it by force."

"Get them!"

With that command, Xu Xialing's men sprang from the shadows, opening fire on Selene's team with rifles.

Ratatatat!

The Golden Dagger members didn't hesitate—they went in guns blazing.

But Selene and her Death Dealers reacted even faster. The moment Xu Xialing gave the order, they were already dodging and counterattacking.

Clearly, the Death Dealers had superior reflexes. Most bullets only struck the cars, rarely hitting their intended targets.

A few shots landed, but they had little effect. These weren't specialized anti-vampire rounds, so the injuries were minimal. In fact, the counterattack from Selene's team quickly eliminated many of the attackers.

Due to time constraints and limited access to weaponry in London, Xu Xialing's group had no heavy arms—no grenade launchers, no rocket launchers—just rifles and pistols.

Facing the ambush, Selene cursed, "Damn it."

She had originally planned to double-cross the other party, but she hadn't expected them to have the same idea.

"Break through and wipe them out!"

Realizing the bullets weren't enhanced, Selene and her team stopped worrying about injuries. They sprang from behind the vehicles, dodging incoming fire while returning shots of their own.

Xu Xialing watched in horror as the vampires shrugged off the damage.

"What the hell are these things?!"

They didn't seem immune to bullets—but the wounds healed instantly. Even embedded rounds were quickly forced out of their bodies.

Xu Xialing joined the fray, swinging her weighted rope dart like a whirlwind. It struck hard, even piercing through some enemies, but it didn't stop them.

One Death Dealer, out of ammo, charged right at her. As her dart was still mid-swing, he leapt in with a powerful kick.

Boom!

Xu Xialing countered with a powerful strike of her own, sending the Death Dealer flying.

Just then, one of her subordinates rushed to her side. "Boss, we need to retreat. We can't win this."

Xu Xialing surveyed the battlefield. The enemy—even if they fell—would get up again. Her own men, however, stayed down once they were hit.

Grinding her teeth, she yelled, "Fall back to me! Full retreat!"

The Golden Dagger forces didn't scatter; instead, they regrouped around Xu Xialing, forming a shielded formation as they retreated.

Selene raised a hand to stop her team from pursuing. "Don't bother. We've got more important things to do."

Since they didn't have a Dragon Ball, there was no point wasting time. Besides, that woman had some skill. But more urgent was the mission to annihilate the werewolves.

"Let's go. We need to rendezvous with the main force and finish off the lycans."

Soon after, Selene and her team jumped into their vehicles and sped off toward the werewolf stronghold.

But just after both sides had withdrawn, a military helicopter descended from the night sky. A team of fully armed special forces fast-roped down, quickly collected the corpses, cleaned up the scene, and left without a trace.

In the getaway vehicle, one of Xu Xialing's subordinates reported:

"Boss, they're not chasing us."

Everyone let out a sigh of relief.

But Xu Xialing was furious. She slammed her fist against the seat in front of her.

"Damn it! We got screwed!"

She finally realized—the supposed seller had only been bait. If they'd believed she had a Dragon Ball, she might not have made it out alive.

And there was something strange about them—besides the woman in charge, the rest weren't that much stronger than her own men. Yet in battle, they were nearly unstoppable.

Their recovery rate was insane. Bullets had almost no effect.

"I won't let this go."
