At that moment, Selene recalled something about John Wick and quickly reported:
"Father, that John Wick in New York—he had two Dragon Balls in his possession, and that was already a year ago."
"He's currently part of the Assassin Brotherhood. From what we've gathered, he now mostly appears as Smith Dole's driver."
Hearing that, Victor's interest was piqued.
"Is that so?"
"Could it be that Smith Dole's power came from a wish made with the Dragon Balls?"
Selene shook her head.
"That can't be. We have the one-star and three-star balls, but they can't grant wishes."
Victor thought for a moment and asked her about how she obtained her Dragon Ball.
Selene then explained everything—how she had discovered the Dragon Ball, and that it had originally looked like just a stone she brought back.
Victor analyzed the details, then said:
"Selene, is it possible that after fulfilling a wish, the Dragon Balls turn into stones and scatter across the world, needing time to recharge?"
"When did the first intel appear about John Wick possessing the Dragon Balls?"
Selene thought for a second and replied:
Victor continued:
"And when did this leader of the Assassin Brotherhood begin to show his power to the public?"
Selene added:
"Roughly half a year ago."
That moment, it clicked for her:
"Father… do you really think Smith Dole got his power from the Dragon Balls?"
Victor chuckled.
"It's a strong possibility. Or maybe the Assassin Brotherhood is collecting them too."
"After all, without some special methods, these orbs would be incredibly difficult to find."
No wonder Victor, with his fifteen hundred years of experience, could reason so close to the truth—even if it wasn't exact.
"Alright, let's not keep our guests waiting. Send someone to open the gates."
Selene nodded and gave the orders. Outside the castle, the electronic gates opened automatically, and two vampires stood behind the inner gate, slowly pulling open the heavy doors.
For the first time in a century, sunlight streamed into the castle.
Looking at the open gate, Alexei remarked to Mister X:
"Looks like we've got some face. These vampires are welcoming us during the day. I thought we'd have to wait until nightfall."
Mister X responded calmly:
"If not for us, then at least they'll give face to our leader."
The two stepped inside. As they entered, the two vampires at the door closed it tightly behind them, ensuring not a single ray of sunlight could enter.
Once the gate was shut, the vampires hiding in the shadows stepped forward.
Victor and Selene emerged as well, and Victor clapped his hands:
"Welcome, Judicator and Elder of the Assassin Brotherhood. It's been a long time since we've had guests in this castle."
Mister X looked at Victor and, comparing him to the image provided by their leader and records in the Brotherhood's ancient archives, said:
"Lord Victor, I see you've hardly aged a day in over a thousand years."
Victor was surprised they knew who he was, then said:
"I didn't expect the Brotherhood to still have records about me after all this time. Quite impressive."
"I understand the reason for your visit. I'll have someone assist you with your investigation shortly."
He gestured toward the meeting table:
"Please, have a seat."
"Soren, bring the files for our guests to review."
Mister X and Alexei, seeing how cooperative their host was, sat down at the table.
Meanwhile, Selene, wearing her battle power detector, glanced at the two visitors.
She'd bought a few detectors herself after the product launched, though she rarely wore them. Today, seeing members of the Assassin Brotherhood in person, she brought one to gauge their strength.
When she saw Mister X's battle power was only 8, she assumed he was just a peak-level ordinary human.
But when the device locked onto Alexei, it displayed a shocking number—50.
Selene immediately whispered to Victor:
"Father, the man on the right has a battle power of 50."
Victor was astonished. Thankfully, he hadn't planned any conflict.
Selene, as one of the top Death Dealers, only had 18 on the detector. Even newly awakened, Victor himself was just at 30.
Yet this man was at 50. Selene had once told him that a power level over 1.3x indicated overwhelming dominance—like how Victor treated regular werewolves.
Soon after, Soren entered, carrying a stack of documents as tall as a person and placed them on the table.
Mister X said:
"Lord Victor, I'd like to understand your food supply and sources."
Victor didn't hide anything and instructed:
"Selene, explain to them how we obtain our blood."
Selene stepped forward, pulling out documents related to Zardes Industries and placed them before the two visitors:
"As vampires, the only thing we can consume is fresh blood. Other food—fruits, vegetables—becomes unbearable in our stomachs."
"Our primary blood supply comes from Zardes Industries, a company specializing in blood cloning. Not only does it supply us, it also provides to hospitals and pharmaceutical companies worldwide for emergency and medicinal use."
"So the accusations of imprisoning humans or making blood slaves are utterly false."
X and Alexei reviewed the documents and saw that the company was quite large—indeed capable of sustaining the vampire population and more.
Victor, watching them, smiled and said:
"The Assassin Brotherhood sure has changed. I remember back then you never needed proof—you'd eliminate someone before they even committed a crime."
Mister X nodded and replied:
"Times are changing, and so are we."
"Taking out someone who hasn't yet committed a crime—isn't that also unjust?"
Victor nodded as well. These once-stubborn extremists had changed greatly over the past century. Perhaps it had something to do with their new leader.
