Bang! Bang! Bang!
One bullet after another fired, blocking the werewolves trying to flee.
Seeing his kin fall one by one, Laz froze on the spot. When he noticed the marks on their chests, his eyes widened in disbelief:
"Silver nitrate bullets… made specifically for werewolves…"
At that moment, Aleksei stepped forward and delivered a powerful flying kick.
Boom!
The transformed giant wolf Laz was sent flying, crashing into one of the platform's stone pillars. Cracks spread instantly across the surface.
Laz slid slowly down the column. The kick had dislocated his internal organs, and he immediately reverted to human form, shouting:
"Stop! Stop!"
Faced with a powerful Judicator and unknown numbers of hidden snipers, Laz knew resistance was pointless.
Hearing Laz's call, the other werewolves stopped as well. Aleksei gave his sword a little spin and said with a hint of disappointment:
"I didn't even use my strength, and you're already down."

Meanwhile—
Inside the vampire stronghold, Selene and Soren were locked in a fierce firefight with the attacking werewolves. Each held dual pistols, firing continuously.
Some of the werewolves had not transformed, wielding weapons loaded with specially designed ultraviolet rounds. Both sides were trying to dodge each other's fire.
Ratatatat!
The exchange of gunfire was relentless. The specialized ammunition was devastating—whether vampire or werewolf, neither side's regenerative abilities could cope with such targeted damage. The famed recovery of both species was rendered useless.
In mere moments, casualties piled up on both ends, and deaths were agonizing.
Other werewolves, already in giant wolf form, tried to breach the building by scaling the outer walls—their target was Michael.
Selene noticed and quickly fired several rounds toward the window.
Crash!
The glass shattered, sending a werewolf tumbling down mid-approach.
Surveying their worsening position, Selene said:
"We can't stay here. Move!"
She leaned out and unleashed another barrage on the surrounding werewolves, killing them instantly.
Once her magazine was empty, Selene grabbed Michael by the collar:
"Go, now!"
Seeing the chaos, Michael followed her instructions and climbed onto the windowsill—only to freeze when he saw it was a 20-meter drop. His legs trembled, and he hesitated.
"Jump!"
Michael turned around and shouted:
"Are you kidding me?!"
Above them, the ceiling shook—more werewolves were breaching from the roof. Without hesitation, Selene kicked Michael out of the window. She knew full well he had already passed the danger period and possessed a werewolf's physique. That fall wouldn't kill him.
"Ahhh!"
Michael screamed as he spun mid-air before landing perfectly on his feet. He was completely unharmed—something that left him shocked and speechless.
Selene reloaded her pistols while shouting to Soren and the others:
"This place is a death trap. We're pulling out!"
She fired several shots at the movement above the ceiling.
Boom!
The rounds pierced through, dropping a few werewolves to the floor, where Soren and the others finished them off.
They quickly moved toward the window to escape the building.
But during that brief delay, a heavily armored vehicle pulled up beside Michael. Several large men jumped out, beat him down without hesitation, stuffed him into the vehicle, and sped away.
It all happened in the blink of an eye.
By the time Selene noticed, only the tail end of the armored car was visible. She fired a full burst in its direction, but it was useless.
Frustrated, she jumped down from the building herself, but by the time she landed, even the taillights were gone. The other Death Dealers began retreating, and the area was once again surrounded by vampires.
At that moment, the attacking werewolves received their signal: the target had been secured. They disengaged from the fight, carrying their fallen comrades, and withdrew from the area.
Soren, fuming at the losses, asked:
"What now?"
"Are we going to rescue him?"
Selene shook her head.
"First, we get the Dragon Ball. I'm worried Michael might break under pressure. We need to secure it before the werewolves reach the location."
Soren nodded in agreement. No one else seemed particularly concerned about Michael's abduction. After all, Selene hadn't gone through any life-or-death experiences with him. She wasn't that invested. Her priority now was the Dragon Ball, and the werewolves were Soren's responsibility anyway.
…
Elsewhere—
Inside the vampire castle.
Viktor had just restored his strength by absorbing blood. With his power returned, so too did his youthful appearance.
The doors to the resting chamber opened, and Kraven entered. Seeing Viktor dressing, he immediately dropped to one knee:
"My lord."
Viktor, having already absorbed Selene's memories, looked at the man kneeling before him and said coldly:
"The one I want to see is Selene, not you."
Kraven rose slowly and stepped forward a few paces:
"Ever since she took the Death Dealers and left, there's been no word from her, my lord."
Viktor stared him down.
"Then contact her. Now. Use the phone."
A hundred years ago, when Viktor last slept, the earliest phones already existed. From Selene's memories, he had learned about mobile phones. The vampire's ability to absorb memories was the key to the Elders' century-long sleep cycles without falling behind the times.
Kraven explained:
"I already tried. Neither Selene nor Soren is answering."
In truth, Selene and her group had been in the middle of battle.
Viktor's tone turned icy:
"Then keep calling. Until they pick up."
Kraven bowed.
"Yes, my lord."
…
Meanwhile—
Selene and Soren arrived at the sewer location Michael had described. Lifting the manhole cover, they found the box dangling just underneath.
Selene retrieved the box and opened it.
Inside was the one-star Dragon Ball.
A smile finally appeared on her face.
Just then, her phone rang again.
Selene slipped the Dragon Ball into her pocket, pulled out her phone, saw that it was Kraven—and answered.
