Chapter 146 - Chapter 146: The Broken Rules

As Selene prepared to depart with her squad of Death Dealers, she was suddenly stopped by Kraven, who stepped in front of her and said:

"Selene, the Elder arrives today. Didn't I say all forces are to remain here and protect the castle? No one is to leave."

Selene stared coldly at Kraven, suppressing the urge to beat him into a pulp.

"Viktor has awakened. You'd better start thinking about how you're going to explain yourself to him."

With that, Selene brushed past Kraven and left the castle with her Death Dealers and Soren's squad in tow.

Kraven stood there, dumbfounded.

Wait a minute—what did she just say?

Then it hit him.

Selene had broken the sacred rule of the Council by awakening Viktor a century too early.

According to the succession schedule, it was supposed to be Elder Marcus who awoke next.

If anyone needed to explain themselves to the clan, it was Selene—not him.

Once outside the castle, Selene turned to Soren and asked:

"The tracker's working properly, right?"

Soren pulled out a tablet. On the map, a red dot was steadily moving.

"No problem. He's heading toward the location you specified."

Selene nodded.

The plan was simple: retrieve the Dragon Ball from Michael, then handle the black market buyer arriving tomorrow. If both went smoothly, she'd have at least three Dragon Balls in hand.

However, as Selene's convoy departed, they were already being watched.

Hidden in the shadows nearby, the werewolf team was observing every move.

The Doctor squinted at the vehicles pulling away and said:

"They've sent so many Death Dealers. I want to see exactly what they're up to."

"Leave three behind to keep watch here. If any more Death Dealers move out, alert me immediately."

"Drive. Follow them—but don't let them spot us."

Elsewhere—

Aleksei and Mr. X had arrived at a rooftop near the train station, following intelligence reports.

Aleksei, dressed in a long trench coat and wearing a scouter, crouched at the edge, eyeing the target below. Mr. X stood beside him, his coat fluttering in the cold night wind beneath the full moon, creating an aura of deadly calm.

Aleksei tapped the scouter and muttered:

"Definitely werewolves. There's quite a few. Lowest power level is 12. One of them even reached 16."

"Didn't think London had this many mutts. What the hell are they gathering for?"

Mr. X's voice was cold:

"Word is someone important is arriving soon—probably vampire-related."

Aleksei scoffed:

"A werewolf-vampire war? That old cliché?"

Meanwhile, back at the castle—

With Selene gone, Kraven headed straight to Viktor's chamber.

Looking around, he noticed nothing had changed… until Erika followed him in.

She quickly explained:

"Selene left the castle with a Death Dealer squad."

"Not just her—Soren's team went too."

Kraven replied:

"I already know."

"You know what they went out for?"

Erika hesitated, then said:

"Something about the Dragon Ball. And that human from before."

"I'm not exactly sure—they don't tell me much."

Kraven sighed. Once again, this mess stemmed from the werewolves.

"What's a Dragon Ball?"

Erika shook her head.

"I don't know. Only that they've been looking into it."

Just then, an aged voice echoed through the chamber:

"What's with all the noise?"

Kraven's face froze.

Viktor… had indeed awakened early.

He turned slowly toward the voice.

Viktor emerged from the chamber's shadows, surrounded by countless blood transfusion tubes.

Scarlet liquid surged through the tubes, restoring his power.

Step by step, Viktor approached and stood before the stone chair. He looked down at his subordinates, then waved at Erika:

"Leave us."

Erika obeyed without hesitation, leaving the room in silence.

Only Viktor and Kraven remained.

"Do you know why I was awakened, servant?"

Kraven dropped to one knee, head bowed:

"I don't, Master."

"But I'll find out immediately."

Viktor narrowed his eyes.

"You mean to find Selene?"

"Yes, Master."

Viktor closed his eyes and spoke:

"Bring her to me. We have much to discuss—Selene and I."

"She passed on a great deal of troubling information. Some of it must be addressed at once."

"Our clan has grown weak—complacent."

"Perhaps I should consider appointing someone else to oversee my affairs."

As Viktor scolded Kraven, he suddenly began to breathe heavily. His voice weakened:

"Still… many of the memories she transferred are jumbled. They lack a sense of time."

"You mentioned something earlier… a Dragon Ball?"

The overwhelming flood of disordered memories was clearly taxing on Viktor, who had only just awoken.

Seeing this, Kraven quickly offered:

"Please, Master, allow me to call for support. You should rest."

But at the word "rest," Viktor's gaze hardened.

"I've rested enough."

"What you need to do is summon Marcus."

"And tell me everything you know about the Dragon Ball."

Though the memories were chaotic, Viktor still remembered one thing clearly from Selene's mind—the Dragon Balls could grant any wish, though they had yet to be fully gathered.

Kraven glanced at the mechanism for awakening Marcus, then said:

"But… he's still asleep, Master."

"Amelia and the Council are due here tomorrow night—to awaken Marcus, not you."

"You were awakened a full century early."

"As for the Dragon Ball… I only just heard about it. Apparently, Selene's collecting them, but I don't know what they're for."

Viktor's gaze grew distant.

Was Kraven truly ignorant? Or was he hiding something?

"Leave me. I need to process the memories Selene passed on."

"Once you contact her, have her come see me immediately."

Then, as if remembering something, he added:

"If she's currently dealing with something related to the Dragon Balls, then she may finish first. But after that—bring her to me without delay."
