“…Your necklace looks good on you as well,” Kylion said, his tone carrying a hint of bitterness.
Apollonia recalled the opal necklace from Panas that he had gifted to her after returning from the war. From his expression, it was evident that he was complaining about her not wearing his gift, much like a child would.
“This isn’t as expensive as the opal necklace you gave me,” Apollonia responded, offering a small smile, speaking as if she were comforting a young sibling.
Kylion’s eyes took on a slightly droopy look, reminiscent of when he was young.
“I got it as a gift with the dress I’m wearing… The necklace you gave me is so precious that I thought people would be suspicious if I claimed I bought it,” she explained, fiddling with her ruby necklace.
Although she was crafting excuses for Kylion, the truth was that the opal necklace had already become incredibly precious to her.
