A sneer formed on Perris’ lips. He must have judged that Evangelin wasn’t much of a price to pay if it meant taking Uriel away from Kylion. In the first place, Perris wasn’t particularly skilled at assessing people’s true worth, so he didn’t have a clear understanding of Uriel or Evangelin.
‘You should act too, Uriel.’
Uriel caught Apollonia’s signaling eyes and attempted to feign shock, but his acting lacked sincerity. Apollonia thought it was a relief that he was usually quiet and reserved, and his handsome looks were a bonus.

The emperor erupted in laughter, leaving the crowd gasping and wide-eyed, their shock evident. Setta pretended to be surprised, covering her mouth with a fan.
‘That’s proper acting.’
