Chapter 72 - "Wanda and Jiro: Unchaining Supergirl."

They toured all over Europe, flying upward and taking in the views along the way.

The snow-covered Alps sparkled under the sun.

Jiro and Wanda landed at the peak of the Matterhorn, surrounded by endless snow-capped mountains and glaciers.

"It's so beautiful," Wanda whispered.

Her breath came out in little white puffs in the freezing air.

But Jiro's bio-field kept the cold at bay, allowing her to enjoy the view in perfect comfort.

They zipped through mountain ranges, and Wanda used her magic to draw a huge heart in the snow.

Jiro took her deep beneath the ice into a crystal-blue cave, where the light danced in dazzling patterns.

They even encountered a pack of snow leopards—majestic cats who showed curiosity instead of fear at the sight of them.

By noon, they were back at the foot of the mountain, having lunch in a cozy wooden restaurant with hot, bubbling cheese fondue.

Outside: snowy peaks. Inside: warmth, firelight, and great food.

"Where to next?" Jiro asked over coffee.

"Siberia, maybe? I've always wanted to see it," Wanda replied, twirling a string of gooey cheese with her fork.

Jiro looked out the window. "Siberia sounds good."

Wanda blinked. "Do you even know what's over there?"

"Honestly? Never been."

After lunch, Jiro picked Wanda up, and they took off again.

They flew east at supersonic speed. The snowy mountains below gave way to the vast Russian plains, until finally, the frozen wilderness of Siberia stretched out beneath them.

Under the moonlight, Siberia looked barren but beautiful.

Endless pine forests swayed in the cold wind, and the occasional howl of wolves echoed in the distance.

Jiro dropped altitude, landing with Wanda next to a frozen lake.

"It's so quiet here," Wanda said, looking around.

Jiro didn't answer. Instead, he suddenly looked off into the distance. "There's a base over there."

Wanda followed his gaze. At the foot of a distant mountain, she could just make out low buildings and barbed wire fencing.

"What's a base doing out here in the middle of nowhere?" she asked, frowning.

Jiro's eyes glowed gold—super vision kicking in to pierce through the obstacles. "I'm not sure, but… there's a cage underground. They're keeping a girl locked up."

"A criminal?" Wanda frowned.

Jiro's face turned serious. "No. She's a Kryptonian too."

"What?"

Wanda's eyes widened. "I get it now—you're saying... Supergirl?"

Jiro nodded. "Kara Zor-El. Another Kryptonian. Looks like she exists in this world too."

Wanda clenched her fists, scarlet energy dancing at her fingertips. "We have to get her out of there!"

Jiro activated his bio-energy field, wrapping the two of them in it—and in the blink of an eye, they appeared high above the secret base.

From above, the base looked more like a military research facility. Automated gun turrets lined the high walls, and patrolling soldiers carried specialized weapons.

"Those weapons..." Wanda squinted.

"Just toys," Jiro chuckled.

Wanda's red hair fluttered in the cold wind. "I'll handle the guards. You go get Kara."

She dove straight down. Scarlet Chaos Magic surrounded her like a shield, then shot out in thin threads toward the guards below.

The soldiers didn't even have time to sound the alarm before they collapsed.

Jiro followed right behind, unleashing his heat vision to melt straight through the ground.

Three levels underground, in a cell reinforced with a lead-kryptonite alloy—

Kara Zor-El.

This world's Supergirl was curled up in the corner.

Her golden hair was dull, her iconic blue suit torn to shreds. Specialized kryptonite shackles bound her wrists and ankles.

Suddenly, the whole cell shook violently, and the ceiling caved in with a thunderous crash.

Through the dust and debris, a red-haired woman floated down, bathed in glowing scarlet light that lit up the dim cell.

Kara weakly looked up, her disheveled hair sticking to her pale face.

Her blue eyes were filled with caution and confusion—until sunlight poured in through the collapsed ceiling, hitting her directly.

"Sunlight..." she whispered hoarsely, barely audible.

Jiro's eyes lit up. A beam of heat vision blasted the shackles right off her wrists.

Wanda gently steadied Kara's trembling shoulders, her chaos magic wrapping around her like a warm blanket. "It's okay. We're here to get you out."

Jiro stood to the side, scanning Kara's condition with his enhanced vision.

He saw her Kryptonian cells greedily absorbing the sunlight, like parched earth suddenly hit by rain.

But the long captivity had taken a toll—she was severely malnourished. Her cell activity was less than a tenth of a normal Kryptonian's.

"She's in worse shape than I thought," Jiro frowned. "She needs energy. Fast."

Suddenly, Kara gripped Wanda's wrist with surprising strength. "Who are you?"

Her English had a strange accent, like she hadn't spoken it in years.

"We're here to help you," Wanda replied softly, not pulling away. She gently patted Kara's back with her other hand. "Can you stand?"

Kara tried to move, but stumbled and nearly fell.

Jiro was instantly at her side, catching her arm.

As their skin touched, something clicked. Their Kryptonian cells resonated—Kara's eyes widened in shock.

"You're Kryptonian too?" she stared at him in disbelief. "I thought I was the only one..."

"Long story," Jiro replied briefly. "Let's get out of here first."

With one hand, he opened a golden portal. With the other, he picked Kara up effortlessly.

Wanda followed close behind. The three of them stepped through and reappeared on a remote plateau in the Siberian wilderness.

It was midday. The sunlight poured down unobstructed, and Kara began trembling violently in Jiro's arms.

"Thank you... You can put me down now," she said weakly.

Jiro gently laid her on a flat rock.

Kara immediately curled up, like a wounded animal, desperately soaking in the sunlight.

Her skin began to glow with a soft golden shimmer, and her dry, tangled hair slowly regained its luster.

Wanda crouched beside her, concerned. "Can she overdose on sunlight?"

"Kryptonian cells have a built-in safety mechanism," Jiro said, standing nearby.

Before he could finish, Kara suddenly screamed in pain. Her eyes lit up, beams of uncontrollable heat vision firing skyward—burning two massive holes through the clouds.

"Hold her down!" Jiro shouted.

Wanda reacted instantly, summoning chaos magic bindings to restrain Kara's limbs.

Jiro stepped forward, placing his hands on her temples and channeling his bio-energy field into her.

"Just breathe. Slowly." His deep voice carried a calming power.

"Feel the sunlight. Don't resist it. Guide it."

Kara's chest rose and fell rapidly, but the heat vision gradually faded... until it stopped completely.

She collapsed onto the rock, gasping for air, her prison rags soaked in sweat.

"I can't control it..." she said, exhausted.

Jiro withdrew his hands and pulled a spare jacket from his system's storage space, wrapping it around her. "The first time under sunlight is always rough. Your cells were starving—they need time to adjust."

Wanda dispelled the bindings and gently wiped Kara's forehead. "Why did they lock you up?"

A flicker of rage passed through Kara's eyes. "They found my ship. Treated me like a lab rat."

Her English was getting smoother by the second—her Kryptonian mind was quickly adapting.

Jiro and Wanda exchanged a look.

Clearly, the government here knew about alien life—and had no problem carrying out inhumane experiments.

"We're getting you out of here for good," Wanda said firmly.

Kara gave a weak smile. "Thank you... but give me a moment."

"Take your time," Jiro nodded.

Wanda blinked, curiosity piqued. "So... when did you get to Earth? Being Kryptonian and all."

Kara's voice gained a bit more strength. "My ship malfunctioned. I drifted in the Phantom Zone for a long time... I think I crossed into another universe. By the time I reached Earth, more than twenty years had passed."

Jiro studied her thoughtfully.

Judging by the timeline, she must've experienced relativistic time in the Phantom Zone. That would explain why, though technically older than Superman, she looked younger.

If she was from a parallel Krypton, it made sense.

"And you?" Kara asked, turning to Jiro. "You're Kryptonian too. I've been locked up for years—I don't know what's going on out there."

"....."
