The morning sun filtered through the thick canopy above Montblanc's camp, casting golden rays onto the clearing where The Celestial Dream was moored. Birds chirped in the distance, and the scent of roasted bananas wafted from Montblanc's fire pit.
Ethan yawned, rubbing the back of his neck as he stepped out of his tent. He stretched lazily and caught sight of Robin already enjoying a quiet moment under a tree, her journal open. Vivi and Kaya were setting the table, cheerful as ever.
"Morning," Ethan greeted.
"Good morning," Kaya said brightly. "Did you sleep well?"
"Like a rock," he murmured, then narrowed his eyes toward the jungle. Something… was off.
Suddenly—
BOOM!
A tree exploded as a flashy figure burst through the undergrowth.
"GYAAAAHH!!"
"It's him! It's him!"
"Cap'n, wait!!"
Out sprang a green-haired man with a star-patterned cape, a heart tattoo on his face, and a ridiculous, fanboy-like expression. Right behind him were a few odd-looking pirates, all wearing shirts that read: "Hero-sama's Fan Club".
"ETHAN-SAMA!!" Bartolomeo cried, running straight toward him with sparkling eyes and open arms.
"…The hell?" Ethan blinked, and in the next second—
BAM!
Bartolomeo was face-planted into the dirt, a fist-shaped mark on his forehead.
"I don't do hugs," Ethan muttered, cracking his knuckles.
The rest of the fan club froze in place.
"O-Oi! What are you doing here?" Vivi stepped forward, stunned.
Bartolomeo groaned and shakily got back on his knees.
"We're not here to fight! P-Please, forgive us, great one!" he cried, suddenly slamming his head to the ground. His crew quickly followed suit, all bowing deeply before Ethan.
"…Huh?" Ethan blinked.
"Great Hero, forgive our disrespect! We didn't know it was truly you!"
"…What?"
Bartolomeo looked up, a mix of awe and tears in his eyes. "We've been searching for you, Ethan-sama! A priest told us the story of a man who descended from the sky after defeating a false god! He said this man had a divine presence and was always followed by three beautiful women!"
"Wait. What priest…?"
Bartolomeo placed a hand to his heart. "A priest from a small island — said he was blessed to witness the Great Hero's light. He called you the 'Breaker of Thunder, the One Who Walked Among the Clouds.'"
Ethan groaned and held his head, a sudden pang surging through his temple.
He remembered now.
That priest on Skypiea.
"I shall spread your name to the world, oh Divine One!"
"…Oh no," Ethan muttered.
Robin covered her mouth, stifling a laugh. Kaya snorted. Vivi chuckled outright.
"Oh dear," Robin mused, "It's begun."
Ethan glared at Bartolomeo. "I'm not a hero. And you better not be preaching nonsense about me."
Bartolomeo clapped his hands together. "O-Of course, Ethan-sama! But I want to serve you! My life is yours!"
"...Tch." Ethan sighed. "If you're gonna follow me, fine. But drop the worship stuff. And change your ways."
Bartolomeo blinked. "Change my ways?"
"No more unnecessary fights. No extortion. And if something happens, you report it to me. You're my eyes and ears now."
"Ethan-sama wants me… as his spy?! I mean, informant?!" He burst into tears. "I won't fail you!"
Robin leaned closer. "That's… useful. You just earned yourself an intelligence network, Captain."
"Unintentionally," Ethan grumbled.
As Bartolomeo and his crew vowed loyalty, Montblanc emerged from the camp, blinking at the odd gathering. "...What's going on now?"
"New allies," Robin said, smirking.
"Fanboys," Ethan corrected. "And possibly the beginning of a bigger headache."
But deep down, Ethan felt it. Something was shifting. These weren't just harmless worshippers.
This was the beginning of something much larger — something born from the stories whispered across seas, and the myth of a man who walked through gods like wind through leaves.
And Ethan?
He had just become the center of that legend.
