Scarlett
We got to school with everyone looking over their shoulders waiting for me to pull a stunt that would be stuck in their memories for years. I heard a view of them letting out sighs of relief as we alighted the bus. I rolled my eyes. I had other important people to endanger than my useless set mates.
We all flooded into the hallways and went our different directions. I headed for my locker to pick up a few things along with my bag pack. "I'm sure you feel like a somebody now." I heard Brianna say behind me. A large smirk crept unto my face. Slamming the locker shut, I slung the bag over my shoulder then turned to her.
"I'm not surprised you'd come to intimidate me." I paused. "I'm sure for the past year, you thought you were the reason Scarlett died. Spoiler alert,... you're not. Me becoming a push over was for my own personal reasons and right now,... those reasons have no meaning anymore. So I've decided to be myself again." I administered each word slowly, letting it sink into her thick skill, then added "Just have it in the back of your head that I'm coming for you and your dumb boyfriend. Watch. Your. Back."
I saw the fear in her eyes. She started to stumble backwards, her eyes locked on mine. I could feel my own eyes gleaming with a dark promise. I started to walk away from her. As I walked away, I called out "Hope you get home safely." with a small smirk on my face.
"You're intimidating." he said as we walked out of the school gates. I smiled. I pulled my phone out and turned it on. "Breaking news. Local orphanage shut down due to contaminated water reaction." That's the first notification that popped up on my screen the moment I turned the phone on. "How painful." Starwick laughed.
Suddenly,he stopped walking. "What?!" I asked, also stopping in my track. Before I could process anything, he pinned me against a close wall. A small gasp escaped my lips, out of shock and fear. "What are you doing?" I asked, my voice low but shaky. He ran his fingers from the nape of my neck down to my collar bones. He used his thumb to caress a particular spot on my skin. I knew where he was stroking. It was the heart shaped birthmark on my left collar bone.
He didn't say anything. He just kept staring at the mark and caressing it. I kept my eyes on him, watching his beautiful form. I was breathing heavily, fully conscious of what his touch was doing to me. Suddenly, he looked up into my eyes. I felt the air I was breathing in choke me. "Who do you love the most?" he asked. I gave him a confused look. "What?" I asked.
"Who do you love the most?" he asked again, his expression serious. "Wait so you pinned me down to ask me that?" I asked angry, almost raising my voice. "Just answer." I sighed, "My mom." He froze, then stepped back after I gave the response, his eyes never leaving mine.
I thought I saw an emotion flash in his eyes. Something like pain and disappointment but it was so fast, I thought my head made it up. "C'mon, let's go." Without me, he continued our journey, leaving me flustered against the wall.
