Chapter 3 - KHOLE'S INJURY

I ran back to Khloe's house, catching my breath while I knocked on the door urgently.

Khloe's mother answered, "Yes, who's that? I didn't answer as I was still gasping for breath. So, she opened it. Her face changed, she was shocked to see me with a distressed expression.

"Where's my daughter? Why do you look like this, and why are you out of breath?" She was asking too many questions at a time.

Tears streamed down from my face as I pointed towards the forest. struggling to find my words.

Khloe's mother looked very worried and concerned, hurriedly followed my hand direction, and headed to the woods, walking as fast as her legs could carry.

There, she found Khloe, injured and in pain.

"What happened?" Khloe's mother demanded, her voice a bit harsh.

I managed to explain, my voice trembling with fear, "We... We were stump jumping when she fell." I stammered.

Khloe's mother sighed, looking frustrated. "Who came up with this dangerous idea?"

"Khloe suggested it," i replied quickly, "I didn't want her to see me as a bad influence in her daughter's life.

She shook her head, "I've warned her about these risky games. Alright, let's get her to the hospital."

So, she rushed back to the pack, brought her car to the woods, and with my help, we carefully carried Khloe to the car.

She started the engine and sped off towards the hospital.

When we arrived at the hospital, Khloe was rushed Khloe into the emergency room. The medical staff immediately sprang into action, assessing her injuries and taking notes of broken bones.

I was walking up and down nervously in the waiting area, I was scared, and seeing her in such pain, broke my heart.

I blamed myself for agreeing to play such a dangerous game. "What if it was something worse?

After what felt like an eternity, a doctor finally came out from the ER. I rushed to him,

"Is she going to be okay, Doctor?" my eyes pleading with the doctor for good news.

"She's going to be fine. Khloe has a fractured arm, but it's not a severe break. We'll set the bone and put her in a cast. She should heal well." she said with a reassuring smile.

I breathed a sigh of relief, my shoulders relaxing. "Thank goodness."

Khloe's mother squeezed my hands as a sign of relief. "Thank you, Doctor. When can we see her?"

The doctor smiled. "You can see her shortly. We'll just finish up the procedure, and then you can visit her in her room."

As we waited, I turned to Khloe's mother with teary eyes. "I'm so sorry, Mrs. Brown. It was my fault your daughter was injured, I shouldn't have allowed it when she suggested playing the game. I never thought something like this would happen.``

Khloe's mother put a comforting hand on my shoulder. "It's not your fault, dear. Khloe is adventurous, she loves these games. And she plays it quite often with her old friends in our former pack. We just have to remind her to be more careful in the future."

I nodded, grateful for her understanding. "I'll definitely remind her. I don't want anything like this to happen again."

When we finally got to visit Khloe in her hospital room, I couldn't hide how relieved I was. Khloe was lying in bed with her arm in a cast, looking tired but smiling. So I walked over to her, carefully caressing her cheeks.

Khloe grinned weakly. "Hey, Ella. Sorry about the game. I guess I got carried away."

I smiled back, tears rolling down from my eyes. "It's okay, Khloe. We'll have plenty of games in the future, but let's promise to be safer next time."

Khloe nodded, "Deal."

While Khloe was still recovering in the hospital, I had to go to school all alone. I missed her dearly, even though we had only met recently. Khloe had brought so much happiness into my life.

As I went to school that day, my thoughts were on Khloe. "I miss you, Khloe," I quietly murmured to myself. "Even though we've just met, you've made me so happy."

After my classes, I decided to pay Khloe a visit at her house. It had been around four days since I had last seen her, and I wanted to check on her and chat about school, games, and her health in general.

As I made my way out of our school gate, a group of boys started calling me.

"Hey, beautiful, stop," the first boy, dressed in green sweatpants, called out.

Startled, I stopped and looked at the group of boys. They're known for their wayward behavior, I couldn't help but fear for my safety.

"I said, come here," another boy demanded, taking a step toward me. Their eyes were dangerously looking at me, and it was clear they meant trouble.

My heart was beating fast, and I clutched my bag tightly.

"Go close to her, and you'll regret it," a deep, authoritative voice suddenly interrupted. I turned to see a tall boy with curly brown and bright Hazel eyes, standing behind me, his arms folded across his chest.

"What will you do, huh?" one of the bad boys challenged, feeling proud he said. "If I were you, I wouldn't want to find out."

I stood still shaking, wondering what would happen and what kind he was.

The tall, brown-skinned boy stepped closer, locking eyes with the lead troublemaker. "You should take my advice. Walk away now."

The leader hesitated for a moment, looking at the boy from head to toe. Then he exchanged uneasy glances with his other friends. Obviously, he didn't want to risk it.

After tense glances, they finally muttered some curses "F**k you".. and fled, running back from where they came out from.

I let out a shaky breath, her heart still racing. She turned to thank my unexpected saviour, my eyes meeting his.

"Thank you," I said, feeling grateful.

The mysterious boy nodded, his face unreadable. "You should be more careful, especially when walking alone."

I blinked in surprise. "Please who are you?"

He smiled faintly. "Let's just say I keep an eye on things around here. Now, go home. But remember, stay safe."

As soon as he finished, he turned and

walked away, leaving me wondering what he is.
