Pushing open the meeting room door, Emiya Shirou entered without hesitation.
Gobta followed close behind, along with the Elen trio.
They moved quickly, without ceremony.
"Shirou, you came back incredibly fast!"
"Of course," Emiya Shirou replied. "I flew back."
"Flew?" Rimuru paused for a second, then his eyes widened in realization. "You mean Vimana? Right-no wonder you're so fast!"
He remembered the Noble Phantasm Emiya Shirou had projected when returning from the Dwarf Kingdom. The image was still vivid.
"Vimana... I want one too!"
Rimuru's voice carried clear envy.
Emiya Shirou ignored the wailing without even glancing over.
"The Calamity-class Beast isn't an unbeatable monster," he said calmly. "This is the perfect opportunity to thoroughly train our subordinates' combat capabilities."
He continued without pause.
"Let those who haven't fought side by side experience real combat. Let them learn coordination. Teamwork. Trust."
"How about it?"
"As long as you can control the situation," Rimuru answered immediately.
He didn't hesitate.
Rimuru had absolute confidence in Emiya Shirou's strength.
"In that case," Emiya Shirou said, already turning away, "we'll start preparing."
Time was short.
He said nothing more and left at once, moving to reassign tasks.
After the arrangements were completed, Emiya Shirou, Rimuru, and the others arrived at the main road connecting the Monster Federation and the Dwarf Kingdom.
This was the unavoidable route.
The Calamity-class Beast would pass through here no matter what.
It was also far from the City of Emiya. Remote. Suitable for battle.
They would wait here.
They would wait for the moment the flames of war ignited.
While they waited, Treyni the Dryad arrived.
She had come closely behind her sister, and now stepped forward to explain everything she knew about the Calamity-class Beast to Rimuru and Emiya Shirou.
Originally, Rimuru had only known that the monster was absurdly strong.
After listening to Treyni, he realized that description was far too simple.
It was troublesome.
Extremely troublesome.
There was no exaggeration in saying that its strength was equivalent to that of a Demon Lord.
It was classified as a Disaster-class monster, but that classification did not reflect its true danger.
In reality, the Calamity-class Beast was closer to a Catastrophe-class monster.
As for why it wasn't directly called Catastrophe-class, there was a reason.
Generally speaking, Catastrophe-class referred to Demon Lords.
The Calamity-class Beast was not a Demon Lord.
It clearly didn't fit.
So why wasn't it treated as one?
The answer was simple.
This type of monster only knew destruction.
It didn't gather subordinates.
It didn't seek to exterminate humans.
Its actions showed no sign of intelligence.
Most believed it lacked the ability to think altogether.
Because of that, even though it was incredibly dangerous, it was still not regarded as being on the same level as a true Demon Lord.
At the same time, the Calamity-class Beast was a spiritual life-form.
Even if its physical body was destroyed, it wouldn't truly die.
It would acquire a new body from somewhere and revive again.
This cycle had repeated countless times.
Hearing that, Rimuru felt a sense of familiarity.
It reminded him strongly of someone.
"This Calamity-class Beast was born in ancient times," Treyni said. "It has died and resurrected over and over. It is a ferocious ruler of the sky."
She paused briefly.
"It would not be an exaggeration to say that it is the child of Lord Veldora-the ruler and guardian of the forest, the Storm Dragon."
"Veldora's child?" Rimuru exclaimed.
He froze for a moment.
"Wait. You just said Veldora's child. What does that mean?"
Treyni continued calmly, as if explaining something obvious.
"Lord Veldora once released a large amount of magicules. The Calamity-class Beast was born from those magicule fragments."
Rimuru fell silent.
Then-
"So... it's like me," he said slowly. "Using human terms, that makes it my brother, right?"
Inside his mind, he immediately complained to Emiya Shirou.
"Thinking about it that way, it actually makes sense why the Calamity-class Beast is heading straight here."
"In other words, its target is me. The one connected to Veldora."
"Maybe it's already sensed Veldora inside me. What do you think, Shirou?"
"I think it would be better if you didn't overthink it," Emiya Shirou replied without hesitation.
"That thing has no will. It's just a simple aggregation of magic power."
He added lightly, "Besides, no matter what, you'll eventually have to eliminate it."
"What a splendid scene of fraternal harmony."
Rimuru rubbed his forehead.
He looked tired.
"You're right," he said. "Maybe I really am overthinking it."
After Treyni finished her explanation, Rimuru reconfirmed the battle plan with her.
"Given the Calamity-class Beast's abilities," Treyni said, "everyone must be careful of its unique skill-Magicule Interference."
She spoke clearly and precisely.
"Within a radius of three hundred meters centered on the Calamity-class Beast, the flow of magicules will fall into chaos."
"It uses its own powerful magicules to interfere with everything around it."
"Even the high-level wind magic I use cannot harm it."
"Because of the interference, the effectiveness of magic is severely reduced."
She continued without pause.
"And the most troublesome part is this-it can disable flight magic."
"If you attempt to approach it using magic-based flight, the spell will collapse."
"You will fall."
"The advantage of aerial combat will be completely lost."
"It is a very difficult opponent."
Rimuru listened carefully.
"So what we need," he said, thinking aloud, "is combat power that can fly without using magic."
"Is that right?"
He hesitated.
"But even if we have wings, I don't know whether they'll be affected."
"Answer. The principle of flight is different."
The Great Sage responded instantly.
"The wings of monsters such as Pegasus and Dragonoids control gravity directly."
"They reduce their own weight, alter force direction, and generate propulsion."
"This method of flight is unrelated to the presence or absence of magicules."
"So my wings won't be affected either."
Rimuru paused.
"Now that I think about it, it's actually pretty incredible."
"I don't fly using muscle power at all."
It was only then that he truly noticed how strange his own flight was.
"I see. Flight magic uses magicules to create reaction force."
"By extension, Benimaru's Flying Art would be useless too, wouldn't it?"
Flying Art was a type of Battle Aura Art.
It used demon energy.
Its principle was similar to flight magic.
That meant it should also be affected by Magicule Interference.
"That's correct, Lord Rimuru," Treyni confirmed.
"Tsk. What a troublesome guy."
"From the sound of it, it'll be hard to burn it down with wide-range attacks."
"Yes, big brother," Benimaru said. "If attacks mediated by magicules don't work, then our options are limited."
After listening to the exchange, Benimaru and the others began reviewing their combat strategy seriously.
But the conclusion was clear.
The Calamity-class Beast was extremely troublesome.
They didn't have a clean solution.
They could only respond as the battle unfolded.
Eventually, Benimaru and the others turned their gaze toward Emiya Shirou.
He was off to the side.
Playing casually with little Rimuru, little Emiya, and Milim.
Despite Benimaru's current position as commanding general, everyone knew the truth.
The highest authority on the battlefield was still Emiya Shirou.
In their uncertainty, they could only rely on him.
"Are you done discussing?" Emiya Shirou asked as he noticed their attention.
His expression shifted.
Serious.
"Honestly," he said, "the Calamity-class Beast isn't that strong."
"Milim and I could destroy it easily."
He let that settle.
"So you don't need to hold back."
"Fight freely."
"I'll be your safety net."
"Once you've shown everything you can do," he said calmly, "I'll end its life."
"Go all out."
