Chapter 392 - Chapter 392: The War Continues

"No matter what, no matter the cost—we must hold the line!"

The reason the God-Slaying Soul-Guided Cannon Shell required time to transport was because it had to undergo a series of modifications to be converted into a fixed-installation soul-guided shell. Only through this process, using specialized launch equipment at the frontlines, could its maximum power be preserved.

In theory, the shell could be fired directly, but doing so would result in lower accuracy, and the firing range couldn't be precisely controlled. If anything went wrong, the entire Federation army might end up perishing in the resulting firestorm alongside the abyssal army.

Only by modifying it into a fixed-installation shell and launching it with a precision-guided system could the plan be deemed reliable.

In fact, the original version of the God-Slaying Cannon Shell was a complete fixed-installation weapon. But due to the immense risk of accidental detonation, it had been dismantled and simplified into its current, more stable form.

No one had imagined that such a god-killing weapon would ever truly be used…

That was why so much time was needed for deployment. And once it was ready to fire, the Federation army would need to retreat to a safe distance—otherwise, they too would be caught in the blast.

Even if it wasn't the Eternal Kingdom shell, the power of the other two God-Slaying Cannon Shells would be enough to annihilate half of the Extreme North.

"Order the Sea God Legion, North Sea Legion, and East Sea Legion to commence full-scale bombardment! Slow down the advance of the Blood River God-Slaying Formation at all costs! Central Corps, Western Corps, Northwestern Corps—have all heavy weapons at the ready and await further orders!" Yu Guanzhi roared.

Now, nearly all of the Federation's top-tier powerhouses were gathered. Even the strongest being in the world, Skytower Douluo, was present.

He refused to believe they couldn't even hold for a single day—not with such overwhelming firepower!

If the formation broke through their barrage, all of the Limit Douluo would strike together. He didn't believe the Blood River God-Slaying Formation could block them completely.

After all, even ants bite when pushed. And this was an army, not just ants.

"Boom boom boom—BOOM!"

The earth-shaking barrage echoed across the Extreme North.

The bombardment was not only aimed at the Blood River God-Slaying Formation itself, but also at the critical paths in front of it. But none of it seemed to make a real difference. That massive purple-black barrier kept slowly advancing. Only during the most intense strikes would it pause slightly.

Yun Ming and the assembled elites from Shrek Academy and the Tang Sect hovered in the sky, watching the formation. Every face was grave.

Even such terrifying firepower couldn't stop it. If this continued, not even a true god would be able to turn the tide.

And worse, no one knew what level of strength the abyssal army hiding within the formation had reached—or how many powerful beings had arrived.

The Federation's once-unshakable confidence in soul-guided weaponry was beginning to crack in this war, which might determine the very survival of humanity. The results so far had been negligible. That realization deeply unsettled the morale of the great legions.

The Holy Spirit Cult's preparations, built up over thousands of years, were now in full bloom. Everything they had done had been specifically crafted to counter the Federation's most advanced weapons.

"Central Corps First Air Division—soul-guided fighter squadron, take off! Commence indiscriminate bombardment with heavy ion beams!" Yu Guanzhi ground the order through clenched teeth.

Chen Xinjie activated his soul communicator. "Sea God Legion—Seagull Division, launch! Indiscriminate bombardment with heavy ion beams. Begin!"

It wasn't that Yu Guanzhi didn't want to deploy other air forces—it's that only the Central Corps and Sea God Legion had been outfitted with heavy ion beam equipment.

At present, only the heavy ion beams could barely deal damage to the creatures within the barrier. But even if they killed abyssal beasts, the abyssal energy would simply return to the abyss. The effect wasn't significant—but what choice did they have?

And they couldn't count on Gu Yuena to continue absorbing the energy. If she got too close, no one knew what kind of change or backlash the formation might trigger.

One by one, the soul-guided aircraft roared across the sky, unleashing invisible heavy ion beams at the Blood River God-Slaying Formation from afar.

These high-intensity beams had some effect. Some abyssal creatures inside the barrier exploded on impact, dissolving into gray-black mist and drifting back toward the abyssal passage.

But the beams were limited in number, and the aircraft dared not fly too close. The formation continued to advance at roughly fifteen meters per second.

That might not sound fast, but it meant dozens of kilometers per hour. Within half a day, they would reach the front lines.

One side bombarded furiously; the other advanced slowly, like an unstoppable turtle. A strange, dragging battle unfolded.

Gradually, the direction of the abyssal army's advance seemed to shift. By noon, satellite surveillance clearly showed their new trajectory—they were heading straight for the Western Corps and Northwestern Corps' defensive zones.

This discovery shocked Western Corps Commander Dong Zian. His face twisted in fury.

The outcome of a collision with the formation was obvious. And the command from central headquarters was clear: stop the enemy at all costs.

"Commander! Where is the God-Slaying Cannon Shell? Bomb them—NOW!" Dong Zian roared into his communicator at Yu Guanzhi.

He didn't care about protocol anymore. If that formation collided with his corps, they'd be wiped out!

Yu Guanzhi replied coldly, "I don't know what you're talking about. The shell's not in my possession."

"You're kidding me!" Dong Zian snarled. "Are you really going to let the Western Corps be annihilated? I'm begging you—without that weapon, how are we supposed to break the formation?"

Seeing Dong Zian lose control actually brought a flicker of satisfaction to Yu Guanzhi's face. He said icily, "The superweapon is still being prepared. Until then, we must stop the enemy no matter what."

"That's bull! They're coming straight for us! If you have no countermeasures, we'll have no choice but to retreat—or die!"

"You dare?" Yu Guanzhi's voice turned thunderous. "Dong Zian, do you even know what you're saying? If you retreat during battle, I have the authority to execute you under military law."

Dong Zian froze. Of course he knew Yu Guanzhi was right. He couldn't afford to retreat now.

"Commander, if we meet them head-on like this, it's suicide. At their current speed, we'll be in contact within six hours. Please—tell me, what are we supposed to do to stop them…"
